alpaca question

do they HAVE to be clipped or will they shed their coats? may be stupid question, but I am curious as to what happens if they DONT get clipped.. thanks!

I don't own llamas or alpacas, but from what I've read, they will be miserable in the hot summer with their woolly coats!

I didn't know that people clip their goats so I let mine go all summer panting and moping around However, this year they're gonna get shaved

Have you seen pics of Buffalo that are shedding? I don't own any but I've driven by farms that own them and I think of the buffalo when I see the ones that aren't shaved. From what I know about them they aren't tame enough to stand being brushed out so they are shaved.

You have to clip them
Some of them are better about being clipped than others (just like horses). It can take a while and you will need plenty of clipper blades and a bin to put the fiber in if you are using it for anything. It is not easy picking bedding, sticks, dirt etc out of the fiber!
