Introducing My Herd

This is Little Bo Plopper. He will be 6 months old mid October. I got him for meat but he was my first calf ever and I bottle fed him. He's now a pet.

This is Hershey, my nubian doe. She was given to me by a dear friend. She's so sweet and likes to follow me wherever I go.

I purchased Flash at an animal swap meet. She's a pygmy doe. She wasn't very social at first but has warmed up really well. Pictured here with Hershey:

Biggest mistake one can make is to name their food and bottle feed their next steak dinner. We are expecting Wayne back from the butcher later this week. This steak won't be so hard to eat as I didn't bottle feed this one and I didn't try to tame him. Can't say what will happen to my next guys. I ran out and got me two bottle babies for my next meal. Try as hard as I might it's impossible to not get attached. Hubby is already thinking one of them will be his next breeder bull. And he tries to say he's not attached. ahm!

Bo Plopper is adorable! When they are this cute it's hard to think of them as food. I assume you dehorned and banned him?

I took him to the vet to have him dehorned and castrated, not banded.
He's so incredibly spoiled. He has his own stall in the barn where he eats his grain, only because he would let the goats share his meals. When he was a baby, he stayed in until it was warm enough outside to go out during the day then back in the stall at night. Now he only comes in to eat his grain then back outside. He'll be 7 months old on the 15th of Oct. When he gets big enough, at least 1000 lbs, he'll be sold for meat, at least that's what I say now. Not sure how I'm going to do that. We're obviously not in the business of raising cattle for meat. lol I just wanted to try a bit of everything to see how it would go. Parting with Bo Plopper will be difficult, if not impossible. I shouldn't have gotten a Jersey!

Love them! Adorable critters...Flash looks to be Pygmy and Cashmere cross....not sure where you are...in TX hair like that is a Cashmere or Cashmere Cross! Beautiful Nubian! I am excited getting 2 more babies (a second buck and another doe) Thursday... They are like potato chips...can't have just one!

Yes, Hershey is a nubian and Flash is a pygmy. I am in the process of putting fence up to separate them from Bo and the elderly mare who get richer/more hay than the goats. They're getting too fat!

yes...it is very hard....when I was young my parents bought a beef calf and a young female cow I got the female because they knew beings Im a animal lover that I would flip out...so they had to get me a baby girl I bottle fed both...and still cried my eyes out when they took Max...they told me not to name him....but you know how little girls are

your calf is adorable!!!! And the goats are cute as well
