Hi, I live in WI and I have recently seen many articles reading,

"The Dairyland Race Track in Kenosha, Wisconsin will be closing on December 31, 2009. 900 Greyhounds need to be adopted or they will be euthanized. Please help get the word out; there is only 6 weeks to get this task done. Contact Joanne Kehoe Operations Director at 312.559.0887 or Dairyland Race Track Adoption Center direct at (262) 612-8256."

I have also read that this is not true( a hoax) or that it is but the dogs will not be euthanized. Just wondering if anyone knows anymore about this and what to believe. If it is true I very much hope that they all find homes.

I work giving lessons for a small trainer in Del Mar, working mostly with little kids. I really love my job, I love the horses and I love the kids.

Well, yesterday one of my favorite kids took a pretty bad fall. It was her first time in the big arena (she's been riding a year, and is a pretty good rider so I thought it was time to take her out of the small arena!) In the roundpen she can walk, trot, canter, get her diagonals, and is an agressive rider and has no problem controlling the ponies. For the last 4 months she's been riding in a small arena and doing great. She can walk trot canter confidently and control the pony. She's had one bolt that she got under control right away. She is my number one kid at shows, she always takes home a ribbon.

Well, yesterday I put her on the most bombproof pony, a 30 year old Arab x Welsh to ride in the big arena. I put her on a lounge line and walked around with her. We worked up to a trot, and all of the sudden the pony LOSES it, takes off, and drags me across the arena. I am frantically trying to stop the pony, I still have a hold on her lounge line but she pulled me over and dragged me face down through the dirt. Then she starts to buck. I'm not talking littke crowhops, I'm talking giant bucks. My kid stays on but then the pony ducks out from under her at the last second and she falls off, landing on her bum.

I picked her up, dusted her off, and did an innital assesment. I'm currently in EMT school, so I knew what to do...checked for any injuries, bruises, etc. She was fine. The sand in the arenas is deep and groomed twice a day so it's really soft. She didn't even cry for more then a minute, then said she wanted to get back on. And she did, and we worked the snot out of that pony.

Before she went home I checked her again, and she had no pain and no bruising.

My boss just called me and said that the parents want to sue me because their childs confidence is broken and she is also "hurt". They are trying to claim her tailbone is broken. They want me to pay for x-rays and the co-pay at the E.R!

They did not sign anything through my boss (I found out she does not have students sign contracts AFTER my kid falls off) but she does have a posted sign saying that horseback riding is a dangerous sport, injuries can occur, etc.

Could I still be held responsible? Would they have a case?

I really, really don't need this right now. I just finally moved out, I am still hurting financially and I don't have the money to pay for a lawyer.

I have 5 year old Paint that I bought 2 years ago. She is very easy going and is willing to do anything. She will cross anything I put in front of her. On her first trail ride she acted better then a 15 year old quarter that has been there done that, and she was the leader, but her head is quite high. I don't want it to be dragging on the ground, but I would like it level. People said to use a training fork. So I went out and bought one. What is your Opinon on Training Forks?

This is my neices horse she boards him at my house she is a college student and just cannot afford him anymore and never has time to do anything with him. For as seldom as he is ridden he does good
he is 4 years old. Nicely built, good temperment. They come out maybe once a month and ride him and he does well. He will just walk if that is what you want but does trot and canter-- no buck rear kick that i have seen. I know they take him on the rode and off the property by h imself and he does well. He is about 14.3 but built stocky and nice....
My neice and her friend have owned him for two years and my neice is a beginner and she rides him. I have not ridden this horse.
I'll try to get more pics soon.... email with questions

 A little background -- we are leasing a pasture from an elderly lady who has chickens that are not penned up. Needless to say, every day when we go to feed our horses, the chickens come running. They aggravate the horses because they want to eat with them, too. (At home, the horses are fed in troughs, but at the leased pasture we feed them in shallow buckets on the ground.) Anyway, yesterday my husband and my daughter went to feed, and here comes the chickens. While my family were trying to shoo them away so that the horses could eat in peace, my husband's foot (accidently, I can assure you) connected with one of them.

My daughter, who plans to be a vet (14YO right now) immediately assessed the situation and determined the chicken has a broken leg (and possibly internal bleeding, etc. She tends to be a BIT dramatic). My husband let her bring the chicken home, and we put her in our hay barn for the night. At bedtime, Mrs. Cluckers (yes, she now has a name ) had eaten her food and bedded down for the night.

Mrs. Cluckers made it through the night fine, and at last report, was hopping all over the yard.

Now for my question...has anyone ever had a chicken with a broken leg? My husband felt bad, and was going to kill the chicken right then, but my daughter had a fit. I am wondering about how to take care of it. We have horses, dogs, and cats, but this is my first chicken!

Boer doe (not reg) that needs to go as well. Iam currently out of a job and
have no idea when I'll get a new client.

Iam asking $50 to $100 for them the FB doe $200.

We have a Sannen/LaMancha buck sired by Code-One WT out of a Wild Willow doe,
he's very nice, very dairy and ready to work! If he doesnt' sell I might just
keep him. There is at least one FB buckling(horns) and a few high percentages
(no horns) as well...they are not rutting yet. All the Boers/Percentage Boers
are sired by Lighthouse EIN.

I have an 88% doeling that was born in July and an early 2009 ,75% doeling both
sired by Lighthouse EIN. I do not know who the sire is to the FB doeling from
2008 her dam came bred and I do not yet have papers on her.

Our computer is sort of up and running if you want photos let me know I'll try
to send you some.

For anybody that wants a Christmas ornament done this year and is watching Ebay
Iam not planning on listing any this year. I will be listing some goat tiles
and a plate but nothing as detailed as the ornaments. Iam having eye issues and
doing that small of work is very difficult, I will however consider limited
special orders if placed within the next two weeks. Ornaments are $10 and $5
S/H this year.

Thanks
