Durn saddle horn!

Ok, I decided to take Blue out for a ride today. There's nowhere really to trail ride around my house so I decided we would ride down the road. Its not too bad if you are careful and Blue has been really good on the road.

So I haven't rode Blue in a bit, and I decided to put a western saddle on him. As we are riding down the road, here came this HUGE RV! And its a small back road. No where to go, between two barb wire pastures. And cars backed up behind the RV.

A second to make my choice, so I decided to bail off Blue and hold him while the RV went by. Problem is, I was in a loose cotton shirt and as I bailed the stupid shirt got caught on the saddle horn! Well, I was already on the way down, no stopping that process. The shirt first held, which got me off balance, then it ripped and dumped me flat on my back under Blue's feet. Ok, baring my all to all the people passing by (who of course had to gawk)

The worst thing (or maybe best) is that Blue never spooked at all!

I was so embarrassed I wanted to just hide under Blue till all the cars were gone. Two of them honked as they went by! Hey you kids, I'm an old lady!

Think of the story they're telling tonight! "And then she fell of her horse and ended up topless!"

Glad you're alright.

You're not the first and you're not the last, but man its the pits to be one at all! I really feel for you, I'd be absolutely humiliated. But you know, in a hundred years or so it will start to be a bit funny to you too.

I think I'll wear tighter clothes when I ride from now on, or maybe a few layers because I think I'd do the same as you and I ride western also.

But maybe like scrapchick said, you could of stayed on. Do you have people you know who could drive by while you're mounted (different shirt of course) in your driveway or somewhere with plenty of room and see how he does?

Yes, in hindsight I should have just stayed on, Blue wasn't the least bit worried about that RV. Although he did look quite concerned that I was laying beneath his feet instead of properly sitting in the saddle!

I can't decide which one is worse, the shirt or the jeans through the whole seat!

I've always feared something like that happening. Did you have to continue your ride without your shirt??

Good boy, Blue.

Well, luckily we weren't very far from home. When all the cars were gone I got back on Blue, and clutching my shirt with one hand and the reins with the other, we moseyed on home.

When I got there Dave said "What in the world happened to your shirt! Did you fall off?" I just gave him "the glare" and said "don't even ask"

dproaps, my hubby has learned that there are times to ask questions and times to wait I hope it wasn't your favorite shirt, that would really stink.

Unfortunately it was one of my favorites! Nice cotton blue jean shirt, very cool for summer.

Oh well, it was an old shirt but I sure am gonna miss it. RIP old shirt!

Oh my! I would have been embarrassed too. I've had shirts get caught on the horn before but thankfully it was at the house and no one got a peep show. Sorry you had to go through that!
