How bout a 30 lb turkey that thinks its a dog and follows you? Or 5 white Muttducks running in a line in front of you?
One thing about boarding at my barn, the horses definately get used to alot of odd things!

Had a high strung youngster that was afraid of big rocks. There was one in particular that was on our way to the field I use for trot sets/conditioning. I got so tired of him always spooking at that one rock that I spent half an hour one day encouraging him to walk up to it calmly, assuring him that it wasn't going to bite his ankles. Wouldn't you know, that he finally got enough confidence to put his head down and sniff it, started to relax, even nibbled at the grass next to it, and then a **** field mouse ran out from under it! We were 50 yards away before I realized what happened. Poor horse was terrified and I couldn't stop laughing at the irony of the situation. To this day he spooks at that rock, waiting for the killer mouse to come out and get him.

This made me laugh out loud! I'm sitting at my desk at work and I'm supposed to be working... You're going to get me in trouble!

My horse is leary of rabbits. We have donkeys so I think she's convinced that rabbits are out to breed her so she will give birth to long ear. She just knows those donkeys are half rabbit. When we jump a rabbit she looks in the direction it ran and does what I call the "bobble head"... She twitches her head wanting to spook but knows not to.

Me too but they're used to it by now and don't ask me what I'm laughing at.

I pooted and Buster jumped a little. That was embarrassing.

What about balloons? They hover around just waiting to smack a horse in the head

We also have a spot on the trail that the horses always spook from. Every horse I have ridden, or have seen ridden through there will spook the first time. I have no idea why

My horse is not very spooky, but anything white is scary! I like the spooking at the fart. I have been on some school horses that spooked at their own farts!

My Icelandic was absolutly terrified of garbage day! And lets not even talk about recycling day, until then.. I didn't know horses could physically jump vertically!

What about the no-see-squirrels. They always scared the mess out of the Standardbreds when we past the woods.
definition of no-see-squirrels......The squirrels that the horses swore they saw and no matter how hard you looked, you didn't see them. But believe me, the horses swore they were out there to eat them.

Do you think the horses that spook at the farts are spooking in hopes of covering up the fart so no one notices that they just did something embarrassing??? LOL Kinda like "opps I tooted now if I jump around no one will notice what I did" LOL

My Di is afraid of moose. Not that I can blame her, they are big but I swear those things stand at my fence just to watch her spook.

Sometimes horses we meet on the trail are completely buffaloed by my mule. They'll snort around and try to run off. She just stands there and watches like WHAT? She is also scared by her own farts. She is very lady like and tries so hard to keep them in so when one does get by it's kind of high powered.

Yes, moose are very scary things! Shafts of killer sunlight coming through the riding arena doors/windows are pretty scary too! They are especially deadly when your rider is trying get a nice straight line to a 3ft fence!

Squirrels.

My horses happily share their dropped feed with the squirrels but let them see one in the pasture and they run and hide

And horse of "color", my TB's look at a Paint and think it's from outer space and won't go near him/her
