Toxic fir tree bark? UPDATE

Anyone ever hear of cage bedding, made from the bark of fir trees, being toxic?

My JRT ate the bedding discarded from a snake cage, and is now retching, eating grass, and doing some wierd thing with his hind legs.........sort of like parking on a Saddlebred.....walking forward while keeping his hind legs in place. This has been going on for at least 45 minutes, and I have looked up everythng I can think of on-line about fir tree bark, and/or toxic snake urine.

grateful for any help.thanks..

You had better get him to a vet quickly. Reptiles can carry salmonella on their skins, I don't know what they would pass through their feces.

OMG !! GO TO A VET!! all that bedding could block his intestinal track as it tends to get mushy and stick to gether when wet!! HE COULD VERY WELL BE STARTING TO BLOAT mostly in big dogs, but if he is blocked its like COLIC!!!

GO NOW as fast as you can to make sure you get all the bedding OUT!!

Prayers for the lil guy!!!

We got home from energency vet clinic around 1030 PM. called poison control, nothing toxic. But he was acting JUST like a horse with colic. They x-rayed, possible impaction from grabbing mouthfuls of the stuff previously during the day, I guess. Turns out it was food poisoning that caused all the bloating and vomiting..................the SO thows out all the cage crap , right out beind the barn Has been asked NUMEROUS times NOT to do this, as dogs get in it, and no need to build a pile right outside the door PUT IT IN THE TRASH. Well, an uneaten mouse or 2 was putrified, thrown out, and guess who ate it...
After paying the vet bill and spending all eve at the vet ,with an annoyed me in tow, I hope he has learned his lesson and puts the cage waste in the trash!

Doogan seems very fit this morn.

YEAH!!! puppy is okay! and dead mice? ewwwww but you know that is like a delicacy- gross- thank goodness the lil guy is good.. When you said snake bedding - that is when I got worried. I've worked for petco before and the stuff clumps when wet so I thought he would get impacted ! that is a HUGE SURGERY 1-3k at least! so YEAH puppy is going to be good. (till he eats something else)_ just like my dog..
