Pooooor Mikki
So...per this thread:
http://forum.horsetopia.com/random-s...you-think.html Mikki went to the vet yesterday. And evidently they did the stitches and everything this morning. They sent her home with me at about noon: she's got a tube in her for the stuff leaking out of her...and she's in alot of pain. She's lying on the front porch. ![]() ![]() We put a fly sheet over her to keep the flies away...and we're keeping the bulldozer twins, Sammy and Axle, away from her. If we try to move her, she cries. Is there anything else we can do to make her comfortable? I want to giver her some aspirin tonight...but not even sure she'll be able to eat her dinner.

You need to stomp in there first thing in the morning and demand pain meds. Our vet gave pain meds when he had to pull a broken tooth from Skye. Poor Mikki, she must be really hurting.

After I wrote this thread, I went out to feed Mikki...she had gotten up and was walking around. So, I fed her...and gave her an aspirin. Then I brought her in the house and put her in the bathroom. She's asleep in the shower now. So..I guess she started to feel a teeensy bit better. I will take her out for a little walk later on tonight.

At the animal hospital where I work, pain meds for any procedure are pretty much mandatory. I find it hard to believe how many people try to decline them. They don't think animals feel the pain of routine surgerys, not to mention other procedures. Most animals are very stoic, and do not show pain the way people do. Even after explaining that to some, they still decline the pain meds! It burns me up! I would definitely go in there Monday morning, and demand something for your pet.

AWWWWwww.......poor baby. She looks so pitiful.
Hope she is feeling much better soon. I have one dog that is a drama queen......until he realizes he isn't going to die from whatever minor scratch or scolding he received, he mopes around and cries. Then is suddenly fine. What breed of dog is Mikki? Her head shape and coloring reminds me of a JRT, but she looks much bigger. Cutie, though. |

Actually...Mikki's far from a drama queen. Her laceration was really bad...and she didn't make a peep. I didn't know anything had happened to her until I saw it. And it was gross.
Mikki is a mutt of some sort...I think she's got some German Short Hair Pointer in her. She's a definite hunter...and doesn't like being in the house for very long. Oh...she's about 80 or 90 lbs of pure muscle. Just ask my husband who had to carry her out of the car today. She is now up and about...and does not want to come in. I know she's supposed to stay clean and quiet...but she likes to be outside.
