Lumps on nose?

My dog has turned up with swollen lumps on top of his snout. They look like mosquito bites or bee stings sort of. He has maybe 5 of them, all little swollen lumps a little smaller than, say, a pea. They are a little bloody since I think he's been rubbing at them. He has a vet appt but in the meantime I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts?

My Ma suggested he got into stinging nettle or bees. I doubt the bees cause I think he would have yipped and come running at top speed had he done that.

Vet says "Hmm, yep...got into something...must be allergic." Um, ok so...? So he hands me some pills and says "Keep em out of the tall grass, call me if it doesn't get better."

My chi just went thro that. She wound up with 5 bumps. 3 have disappeared and the other two are healing.
