Schoenie's Thanksgiving

One pumpkin pie
Eight buttermilk biscuits
1/3 pan of Special K bars (oh! they were soooo good too)
And the garbage can

Ya know he's guilty about something when he pushes his way out of the house when you open the door to walk in

Man! We put things up but I swear he pushes a chair up to the counter

That's funny, it is just like my dogs. This year, all they got was my Apple Pie, though. I told hubby to put it away, not my fault

That's a lot of food, being a dog he probably went and hurled part of it up again. What kind of pooch is he?

Sounds like something our Lab would do if left to her own demise...

Sounds like Schoenie had a perfectly lovely doggie Thanksgiving.

My dogs split a pumpkin pie that I forgot to put the eggs in on Wednesday night as their pre-Thanksgiving appetizer. Then we took them for a walk on TG day before they had their fill of leftovers.

It's good to be a dog, I think.

Funny! Hope you didnt have to bad a mess to clean up.

It use to be almost a guaranteed thing that when we came home there would be torn wrappers and empty containors round the house. Our bad little boy Mr. Poohey. We know its mainly our fault for leaving it down or within reach. But you know................ Its just second nature to come in look down, see it, and scream. Not at him. but usually ohhhhhhhhhhh s*i#! or a few other choice words.

Sorry to hear bout the lose of your pie. Makes me want some more.

Mr. Poohey? Is there a story behind that name? Or behind the dog?

No, Schoenie has a cast iron stomach. He's been known to eat a LOT of stuff with no ill effects. Takes after his mama I guess

What I'm worried about is all the chocolate he's eaten. Ya know "they say" it can make them so sick that they may have convulsions. But he got a 2lb box of See's chocolates one year and never had a problem. Do you suppose it might be cumulative? He's 10 yrs old

There has only been two times he's 'suffered', once he 'drank' a pint of Dr. Bonner's peppermint soap. He burped and pooted for about a week after that, but he smelled great! And then once when he urped in the car on the way home in the early years of Gerald and my courtship when Schoenie had his fill of pig poo and straw - that was not pleasant

Ya, know........if you would feed that poor starved dog once in a while he might not get into so much.

Be glad you don't have a Trucker. He can simply leap onto the counter with not a problem. Jasper on the other hand needs a wee bit of help to get up there, like the handle on the stove door.

I've known several dogs that ate large amounts of chocolate without ill effects. But all of them were German bred. Or 3lbs of raw hamburger, plastic casing and all.

Just don't let them get into a pan of date bars. That was not pretty Christmas morning.

Fluppy, long and low though she may be, has no trouble at all getting food off of counters if she is so inclined. She once ate an entire batch of my mother-in-law's chocolate chip cookies with no ill effects.

I have a jack russell that got onto the raised part of the counter behind the stovetop ( the stove was mounted in an island, and accessible from all angles). and pulled out a HUGE turkey breast that I was cooking for potpie!! The darn thing weighed more than she does, but she managed to get it out of the pot without burning herself, onto the floor, and kept the 2 labs at bay while she made an earnest effort to make the whole thing disappear............she even had the nerve to growl at me when I discovered the fiasco and tried to recover the bird!
Most days, it's a circus here, just some days more than others.....

You guys crack me up! Or at least your dogs do - or is that doo-doo

Beth, dates aren't too good for me either So that would make two of us (or is that doo from us?) Ahhh, nothing like some good poop humor to make one's day, huh?!

Fluppy! You ol' thing you! I would of LOVED to see that! I wonder if Flup has that balance thing going, you know those Basset's do have very strong tails. You definitely need one of those wildlife cameras in your kitchen!

Tallyho, I can see that with a Jack Russell, they can be extraordinarily - oh... energetic, shall we say

TxMom, so you've seen how emaciated Schoenie is then? He's built like a bottle brush, the vet said she'd never seen a dog with as long a rib cage. All the better to support a digestive system I guess

OKay, well....... His name is Spyder (akc. reg. Climb In and Drive), named after the Mitsibushi Spyder. I didnt name him. When he farts it smells like a big stinky pile of poo. So we named him Mr. Poohey, or also known as Mr. Poopy pants, or Poohey poohey poo poo. hahahahahaha

I wouldnt worry bout the choco, you would have seen a reaction by now. I had a dog that ate anything choco that was left down. One time we bought a package of keebler choco cookies. Those wafer stick looking ones. We ate maybe bout 6 of them. Left them down on the coffee table. In the am, all gone. No issues. I think that its when a dog isnt use to choco at all, that you have to worry bout it.

Pig poo and straw ........................... augh that is disgusting. I feel for ya on that one. So glad it wasnt me cleaning that up. yuck!!

Not as bad as that commercial, Mr. Barky Von Schnauzer! Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!

Duchess had a good Tgiving - tried to snag the pecan pie AND the turkey! We're not used to having a dog who's head is at counter level...

She got some leftovers and had a bad intestinal reaction that I had to clean up. My garbage gut, Boy, just laughed at her!

Well, ours got into the back of Pat's truck one year and enjoyed Turkey bones.. scared the devil out of me, but they were fine..

I would be cautious now though - if he ate all that for Thanksgiving, I would be worried about what he expects for Christmas dinner.. Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding no doubt..
