Broken Dew Claw on Front leg

My accident prone German Shepherd, has succesfully broken his dew claw on his front right leg. The claw is actually broken above the nerve, but still attached. He did bleed quite a bit, but it seems to have stopped. Should I cut it off, or let it be? I am afraid if I cut it, that will hurt him. I know that a vet will numb the area and cut it off if I take him in. Any suggestions???

Vet. My dog broke a nail running, and she bled everywhere, I managed to put Peroxide with some water, it stopped the bleeding. Unfortunantly, I took her to the vet, they chopped her nail off, which now has grown back....I highly take the dog to the vet, its the best for him and you. He could injure himself more if he accidently trips or hits something hard against it, causing more damage.

I'd take him to the vet and have it removed. Otherwise he's set up for infection as the tissue dies, or since he's accident prone anyway, he could get it snagged on something and rip it the rest of the way off.

Yup, vet removal, and you might as well have the other one removed at the same time..

Thanks.
When he was a puppy I had his rear dew claws removed, but never thought about his fronts! I have never had a dog with this problem before. I swear....if it can happen, it happens to him! He sure is lucky that I LOVE HIM!!! I called the vet, and they are not open yet. Try again later.
