It's official:

I am now the proud (?) owner of a Weinerhuahua. Who may actually not be a Weinerhuahua at all.

My sister moved out, but her little dog did not. He and I had a conversation, it went something like this:

"Buster, you're my dog now. What do you think about that?"

*Buster licks my chin and rolls over for belly rubs*

"You're going to have to get fixed, Buster."

*Buster's big eyes say, But I'm not broken!*

"Oh, yes, you are, you just don't know it."

*Buster wags his tail and says, Fine, I will go to the vet and have a checkup to prove to you that I am not broken!*

He has grown these really long wispy hairs around his shoulder area now, almost like a mane...I am starting to wonder if he is not some sort of Chihuahua/Chinese Crested/Dachshund mutant dog of some sort.

Sounds like you and Buster have excellent communication. I would love to see a picture of the cute mutant dog!

Oh, sorry! I've posted this picture a couple of times before, and I really need to get some new ones uploaded to Photobucket. Here is Buster from last March, with our Basset hound Fluppy:

Mutant Weinerhuahua or not, he is adorable... and is so much better off with you!!

Congratulations - may you have a lot of good years together, especially after Buster is repaired...

Oh yes, sorry! I do remember that picture! I don't think he looks broken either, but I agree he still needs to be fixed. And I just want to give Fluppy a hug, too cute!

Oh, he's broken, trust me. He does this funny motion with his hips....

Poor Fluppy. She puts up with him so well, but sometimes I worry that he will wear the hair off her back end!

Not for long, not for long... He is just over a year old, so I think if he is neutered quick-like it will not become a habit.

At least I hope not.

Orchid he may do it even if he is fixed but dogs also do that as a domience over the other dog.

Looks like Papillon might be in there somewhere. I don't see Chinese Crested is he bald or very thin haired?

The humping action isn't always sexually related. Sometimes it's a dominance issue. Best to get him fixed before he starts to mark. That could become a habit hard to break. Wouldn't want him to have to move out with Sis.

Oh, I know it. But the thing is, Fluppy is very obviously the dominant dog in their relationship. When she says this is my food or this is my bed, Buster says "Yes ma'am!"

With as big a "WOOF" as she has, poor Buster is reminded that she could eat him in two bites if she so chose!

Not that she would harm a flea.

farmergal, maybe Papillon is it. I just can't figure out where the exceptionally long hair around his chest/shoulders is coming from. I'll have to take some more pictures.

Looking at his face, it really does look kinda papillon-like. They have that long wispy hair, too, don't they?

He's a cutie!

Glad to hear that he decided to accept your broken theory, as if he had a choice! He will thank you in the end, and I agree he looks like he has Papillion in him, such a cutie though.

When I got with my hubby he had a mini Chi-weenie and she was so spoiled, I loved that dog...we had to have her put down she had a missing disc in her spine and she moved just right and was paralyzed....she was the sweetest dog...hubby wants another one....

Definitely more pics are required. Congrats on making it official. My vote is Papillion mix as well--those hairy ears, that spikey smile, the ability to hump mountainous dogs at will......

I don't actually see papillon, to be honest- his ears aren't the right shape, despite the feathering. I'd bet LH chihuahua rather than papillon.

I totally agree, he has that chihuahua shape head, ears and eyes. I'd lean more toward long haired chihuahua as well
