Oh he's a cutie! I'm no help at names though.
But if you want to do personal protection work with him, you have to keep him really confident and not make a "disciplined pet" of him for the training to go well. You really need to focus on positive reinforcement as he goes through his puppy stuff, instead of "no, no, no". That way when it's time to start the training he won't constantly question the things that had previously been "bad". Confidence and even temperment are key in the training being successful, and it starts now as a young pup. Take him to as many places as you can, the pet store, friends houses, car rides to no-where, dog parks... everything you can as often as you can. That way he's well adjusted and social, makes the resulting dog after training that much better. The goal is a free thinking, confident, yet 100% obedient companion dog. They need to be able to read a situation accurately... so the more situations you place him in the more confident he'll become, and the more he'll excel in the protection training as he learns when to do what and how to do it with what commands.

I think with his background he will not be easily cowed.
I always was strict but fair with our Schutzhund pups. They HAVE the instinct within themselves for the protection work-but the discipline has to be ingrained in them too. Sometimes the straight Eueopean breds can be a bit sharp-when older. No one wants a black and tan alligator. Very nice pup-did you get him from a stateside kennel or import yourself. I love the Kenai name-loved the movie too.
