White GSD

Just curious to see if any fellow HT's have one and what they think of them. I've got 2 and absolutely love them! They're great around the farm & horses as well as with kids that visit. They're not as sloped as the classic GSD, at least mine aren't. I'm a big fan of GSD's, classic, black or white - though I'm now partial to the whites Anyone else with whites?

We used to have a white GSD until he got stolen. He was gorgeous. My boyfriends mom has a black and she's HUGE. When she stands on her back legs she's well over 6 feet tall!!! I just love them!

I prefer black and tan Gsd's. The white ones are cute though. My gsd I had for 10 years was black and cream with a touch of silver. How about some pics of your dogs?

German Shepard Dog..

I knnw of several, and plan to adopt one as our next dog from a rescue when any of our current ones cross that rainbow bridge.. They are intelligent, and a typical GSD - just a dog of a different color...

We have a white GSD. He was a rescue, but not what you typically think of as a rescue. His family situation changed and the owners just wanted a good home where he could get more attention. We've had him about 6 months. He's three years old and is the same as any other GSD, just white.

I've had GSD's since I was a kid and adopted my first one from the pound. I've been hooked on the breed ever since. This is my first white one though.

I used to train Schutzhund, which was developed in Germany a hundred years ago as a breed suitablility test for the German Shepherd Dog. I prefer the German bred lines that are titled in Schutzhund. These dogs are proven to have the correct temperament for the breed since if they fail the test they can't be registered.

That's why I'm carlagsd. Carla + gsd

My family always had one when I was growing up. The last one we had was "my" dog; he decided I was his owner, he was my big buddy. We had such fun together....he absolutely loved running along when I went riding. Then I moved off to college and got married, and my parents found him one morning. No conclusive reason why he died, they said he died of a broken heart once I was gone. He was only 8 years old, so I was convinced they were right.

I'd love the chance at another one, one day. Wonderful dogs.

We have a 6 year old male GSD. He was given to us as a puppy, when my youngest daughter was born. He is an awesome dog. He seems to have a little more energy than the other GSDs that we have had. But I trust him completely with our family. We love him to pieces. Here are pics, we had him shaved for the summer because of the heat, so his hair is not normally so thin.

He is gorgeous! I absolutely love GSD's all colors. We had one growing up and my mom didn't care I went cause Lady was with me. My brother works with German Shepherd Rescue in Austin and now in Houston. He found his male through a rescue. A beautiful male tied to a tree and left to die-he had scabies and rather than have it treated they just left him and probably went and got another one. He is the sweetest dog, all the neighbor kids love him-and my brother takes him to do home visits because he's such great advocate for rescue. Proof what can happen when love gets a second chance

GSDs

Your white GSD is beautiful!

While on the subject, maybe someone familiar with this breed can offer some input. This is long-ish.

We have a 2 1/2 year old GSD named Rhett. We got him from the breeder when he was 8 weeks old. His temperment has always been very laid-back. He and our 3 year old black lab female, Skye, are great friends. When we first got him, our youngest daughter, Becky, (then 28) lived with us for 6 months before her move to FL. She played a huge role in his puppy days.

In February 2007, Becky was hit by a car in FL and came home for 7 months to recover. IMMEDIATELY, Rhett appointed himself as her "guardian/protector" in true shepherd fashion. He rarely left her side and made sure to always be between her and Skye as all the lab wanted to do was play.

Within a few days of Becky's return home, Rhett choose not to eat. I have always fed them morning and evening, putting their bowls on the kitchen floor a few feet from each other. Becky would have to stand on her crutches next to him so he would eat. Skye would have to be within his vision, but not near Becky. This went on for all the time she was here. Two weeks ago, Becky returned to FL. Though Rhett is still not eating like he did before her return, he is doing somewhat better.

I'm sure this is related to Becky. Has anyone had this or a similar problem? If so, how was it solved?

Rhett has been vet checked, and all is well. I mentioned it to his vet, and he stated "shepherds can be like that". YA' THINK????
