We are having puppies......

Thanks Farmergal, just knowing someone else knows helps.
I believe I am going to get a pillow and lay on the couch beside her.

My Jingle has started having her pups, we only have 1 so far but I do believe there's more in there. We started heavy panting around 8 this evening, she ate her supper so I wasn't expecting anything tonight but my husabd said he believes she's in labor. She was breathing hard and resltless. So at midnight we had our first little pup, a girl. But no more yet and it's been an hour and half and I am getting nervous. She is still panting and shivering, I have a heat light on them both. I have the pup in another box to stay warm.
When her labor started, I was at the computer, and I had just checked on her, and then she started screaming, I haven't heard a dog scream before, it must have completely freaked her out. This is her first litter so she doesn't know what's going on, what's this thing coming out of me??? And it's killing me!!! I feel so bad for her but all I can do now is sit and wait with her. How long is it safe to go between puppies? She's not having contractions tha I can see, just panting and shaking. Any thoughts and prayers are greatly
appreciated. Kim form GA

As long as she's resting comfortably between puppies she should be alright. Latte went 3 hours between her pups and this was her second litter but first with me.

Unless you are a very light sleeper laying down is not a good idea as you most surely will fall asleep. Do you have someone that can take shifts with you? They can wake you if she starts having contractions.

Sometimes the first one is the hardest to get out.

Did she pass her afterbirth? I didn't learn until this last litter that if the afterbirth doesn't pass right away it can delay the birth of the subsequent puppies.

What was scary for me is when one puppy is attached to close to clip the cord and along comes another puppy. Mom is up spinning around and I'm trying to support the puppies attached to her butt. Then when the puppy was finally freed it ripped it's cord and was bleeding. I'm sure you don't want to hear my horror stories so I'll shut up now.

Hope you have a successful whelping. If you need anything PM me. If nothing else I'll be your morel support. I have a pot of coffee on.

Don't you just love it when they decide to start labor and keep you up all night. When Latte had her pups I literally fell asleep with my head in my lap. I darn near fell out of my chair. Even HT couldn't keep me awake. I guess I read myself to sleep.

Can't wait to see the little ones. Should be interesting to see what they grow like. I know a lady that bred hers with a pug, also an accidental breeding. He was a hairless pug. Very odd looking in a cute way.

How is mom and pups doing this morning? I'm going to be away today but I'll check in when I can. Can't wait to see pics.

Jingle babies

We wound up with 2 little girls and 2 little boys. I got to bed around 5 and everyone was resting peacefully so I could sleep for a while.
Here's a group shot......

Mom is a hairless Chinese Crested and dad is a long hair Chihuahua. This was not a planned breeding.
The 2 on the left are the boys, the 2 on the right are girls. The little pink one was the last and the smallest.

Thanks for all of the good thoughts sent my way.
Don't you just love the after effects of up all night birthing.
