I was wondering the same thing. I've never had a problem with Frontline until I used the last application. I questioned the longevity of it's shelf life.
I thought mine could have gone bad due to the heat wave we had this summer but then it could be I didn't apply enough to each animal as I buy for the large breed dog and divide the vial up amongst my little dogs. I find it's more cost effective that way.

I did the same thing farmergal, I bought the bigger ones and split it up. (per direction of my vet). But it just flat didn't work this year. I have a big boxer X dog and I put his full dose on and still had fleas. I know it worked super for me last year anyway, but no00t this year.
