Rate your dog food.

This is pretty cool. I need to either go home to do it first or check it on the net. I feed nutro but I dont know what the score would be since it only has the puppy food scored on there.

> Purina Benful / Score 17 F -wow I knew it was a bad food, but I didnt know how bad it was lol

http://www.connecticutk9.com/dogfood.htm

I was going to add a poll but it wont let me ;strange:

Actually better dog food in the long run lasts longer, then the "walmart" special. If you do the proper feeding (as in dont just keep refilling the bowl all day long)

We feed a lamb and rice by Maximum - it seems to keep their tummies happy and their bodies fit!

We bought our first bag of Nutro last night...I had a 20% off coupon for a pet store that we haven't gone to before (curtousy of adopting a dog ), and they didn't carry what we had been feeding - so, it gave me an excuse to convince my hubby to try it . So far no complaints from the doggie department.

Only good brand I can find around here i nutro. seems like all the pet stores sell aorund here is the "popular, well know kinds" (LIke IAMS, Science Diet, Purina) crap I wouldnt feed the dog. I'm looking for Merricks it sounds good on the website, and they have funny slogans with it, I bet any dog would like "grammys pot pie" (or somthing like that it is called)

I guess if I wanted to make myself feel like I could get on there and rate Fluppy's Pedigree food, but since I don't, I won't.

ProPlan rates out very nicely. My dogs love it and they stay healthy on it.

I feed pro plan and my dogs love it.. my rot stud gets the performance type, which has really help him put weight on... he is VERY high energy and burns it off easily...

I feed giant breed/large breed pro plan to the puppies... and sometimes I add in of the Pro Plan Select...

I generally feed regular Pro Plan to adult dogs, sometimes I get the Large Breed... but I feed much less Pro Plan compared to what I was feeding when I feed Purina one... actually almost half as much...

I want to eventally feed more Select to my adult dogs as well.. do some regular, some Select as well as add in some Honest Kitchen Dehydrated Food...

It is a little expensive, but in the long run, there seems to be a lot less waste and with dogs as big as mine, that means a lot.... plus they absoutely love it.. My dog food bill with 8 large dogs runs about $75 a week regurly; with lactating momma's and puppy's it's up close to $100 now...

I've collected so many points this past year I'm almost at the point where I can get my $500 vet check from them... I'm particpate in their Pro Club.... I have a feeling next year we will be up to two $500 checks... that is another thing I like about them, their Pro Club, which in essence cuts down on the cost per bag, not a lot, but it still levels it out with some of the lesser food... plus I find their are better sales on Pro Plan at times than any other type of Purina

I've tried Nuto and Iams, but my dogs just don't seem to like either.

I never new that they had a points system intresting.

My dog also dosnt seem to like nutro much either. I have found the dog food I'm looking for though (being at work with nothing to do for 12 hours makes you call differnt pet stores. so looks like somtime next week I will get him Merrick (as his nutro isnt even half a bag gone yet any way) and just mix it in with his nutro until its gone.

Me too but my boxer has horrible gas with it but I think that breed just has tempermental stomachs anyway. My puggy is a fat cow no matter what you give him. When they were puppies I tried all the expensive stuff antd they had diarrhea but not with Maxximum or Purina One. I am going to try to go back to Purina One and see if he has less gas with it and I will give a detailed account of any improvements!

Molly loves the Grammy's Pot Pie! She snarfs it right down. The cats even try to snatch it up. I think the Merrick's site has a store finder option on it someplace -- that's how I found it locally.

I would go with a better food, purina is not the best. And with a dog that has a fussy stomache, i dont think purina will work. It may be the corn in it, as most dogs have problems with it as it isnt digestable and with it being the 3rd ingreident on the list, there is a high volume of it.

ETA: Also the 6th ingreidient also is whole grain corn.

Yup it does. I went through it. It just gave me adresses so I just startedto call around local places. But I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it from the only place I found, as that store sells puppies. And I try to stay away from stores that sell puppies as I dont agree with it.

I will keep searching. I think I did find it else where, but no one answerd the phone. Its only a pet food store, no animals for sale there, not even fish lol

Some of those things are ridiculous though. Add five points if the meat products are hormone-free? *shouts* All animals have hormones!!! And a lot of hormones (like BST in cattle) don't have effect on the consumer (your pet) because the hormones only affects cows (hence BOVINE somatotropin).

My dog's food is cheap and mostly corn meal but he's at a good weight and plenty healthy. It isn't hippie-dog-food with all-natural everything (technically, corn is natural!) and it doesn't come with a free certificate to a doggie day-spa.

He's a dog. He eats dog food. He's healthy.

End of story. :P

yes but MANY dogs are allergic to corn and wheat and have problems with it. Not to mention it dosnt digest at all. Plus would you want to eat bird beaks, fethers and what ever else by-product is? by-product is just the crap no human will eat. Not to healthy at all. yes he is a dog, but why not feed it well. DOgs are not wild like their ancestors, and even then they will eat the whole animals, the good also, not just the bad (by products)

Food I feed isnt "hippie food" its good dog food. Not ol'roy or the walmart special where you can buy a 30lbs bag for for 9.99.

I feed PMI Exclusive http://www.pminutrition.com/ (and NO it is NOT the same as Purina Dog chow foods). Love it and so do the dogs. I didnt go thru point by point to rate it but just glancing it is probably a good rating. My aussies have great coats, especially my puppy, despite my lack of brushing. Less stool. My older dog has a sensitive stomach and so far not a problem with this feed. Also it has the glucosamine in it which she needs. I would never feed one of the walmart brand dog foods. You can definately see the difference in what you feed.

Just read about it sounds like a good meal for a dog. I'm sure it would have rated B+ - A+. I too started to go through all the points on my dogs food. (I was a work with nothing to do lol) ad i didnt relize how many questions it did have. I got to 80 somthing then just gave up.
