Confessions of a "Cat Person"...

Why oh why am I not a dog person?

Dogs are so loving and sweet. I've taken in strays, rehabilitated them, and then I keep them. I care very much for them, but I'm just not a "Dog Person".

Now, there's a huge Great Pyrenes stray at my house. He's got a collar, but he just doesn't seem to want to go home. Most of the strays around here run off at the very sight of a person, but not this guy. He positively smiles when you talk to him. Today I put a note on his collar, so if he chooses to go home, his owners will take charge of him... As I was attaching the note I noticed how very filthy this dog was, he's covered in ticks, and even had a huge tick on his upper eyelid! Poor baby!

But, I am not a dog person... I want to help him, but I don't necessarily want another dog! We currently have four dogs residing here. Two are mine (well, my husband's) and two are our roommate's...

I really want to give him a bath and take off all those ticks...

This, my dear, is how we ended up with 7 dogs! And I'm like you, definitely more of a cat person.

Is there anyone you can call? How about putting up flyers to see if his owner surfaces?

Giving him a flea/tick bath will spoil him for sure, but will also alleviate his irritation and suffering from the ticks.

Good luck finding his owner!

dog person

C'mon...just give him a bath and love him up for a while! Luka is going to another home soon and you will need another dog! Maybe he'll stick for a while....

Right! Luka is going to another home. My job is done. I got her clean, happy, reasonably socialized, fattened up, and I even made her a coat and a sweater... But now she's going to live with my sister, a dog person, and I'm happy.

Luka is sweet, and very high energy. My neice is also high energy, they're a perfect match!

I do not need another dog... (What harm could a good bath and dinner do? I mean, really?)

I heard that, Bonnie! And I wouldn't have it any other way!

You're right, what harm would a bath and square meal do? Go for it, the angels are watching...
