Stray...yes or no????

So, yesterday, my dogs were out in the front yard playing on the fenceline with a dog I have never seen before. I went out to see, and it was a white female Boxer, with cropped ears and docked tail, smallish, underweight and dirty, but cute. She was having the best time playing on the fenceline with my dogs. I could see that she had no idea where she was and I had never seen her around before, but we do have a few houses that have been sold lately so, maybe she could belong to one of those people, I thought. She really wanted to come into the yard to play, but i did not want to let her, for fear she may hurt Arden or have something contagious or whatnot. I broought the dogs inside and she just laid down in the driveway to wait for them to come back. I was really saddened. Today I was looking for her, but didn't see her around, so I went online to the Animal Control site, and she was pcked up, and impounded. I spoke to hubby and he looked at her, since I had mentioned it last night, and said to go down and put the deposit on her so in the event she is not claimed they will call us to go and get her. I have 4 dogs allready, and 2 of them are puppies, so I am wondering should I go and get her? Would it be fair to the rest of my dogs? Will there be enough love to go around for 5? What if she doesn't fit in??

I would have to say most definately. I love Boxers. I have a bichon poo and my sister has 3 boxers and let me say that my dog is more terrifying than the boxers. They are all terrified of him.. I tell them, he may be small but he is mighty.

I think there's plenty of love in the Kanoo household for one more!
If she played nicely through the fence and your dogs were not being defensive of "their" yard, they would probably all get along ok....
I'm a softie, I'd probably have to go get her.

Holler is a boxer mix and he loves all dogs....I'll take her if it doesnt work out.....can you meet me halfway?

I of course say go get her! If the interaction on the fenceline was civil and they were getting along then she probably would fit in pretty well. Just a little work on being gentle with the smaller dogs if anything.

I totally feel like crap right now for not letting her in....I could tell she was dumped, but I was afraid she would grab Arden and she is little and it only takes once you know?? Now because of me she is in that horrible place....I am literally sick to my stomach!! She is a white Boxer too....and she isn't deaf!! She is so cute....she looks to be very fun loving, she should not have to spend one moment in a terrible place like that, and I let her go there!! I feel like a cad!!

See, if you go get her on your birthday and Arden's birthday, then this day becomes her birthday too. And of course, the Sumo baby that will come today....in your honor....so you could name little boxer dog Aarin, after your friend that held onto her baby until your birthday (maybe...).

I can't go get her today, she is on a hold to give the owner a chance to come and claim her, and I cannot make it down there before they close. I can go down tomorrow and place a deposit on her so in the event she is not claimed she will go to me, but she will have to sit down there in that he** hole for 10 days.....that stinks!!! God only knows what kinds of goobers she can come in contact with down there and then if and when she comes home to me she will expose all of my dogs to it....I should have just let her in in the first place and left it at that!!!

Do you have anywhere at your place to keep her for a few days just to make sure that she doesn't have anything contagious? You know, like you would normally do for a new horse? My coach had an empty stall she would use, which sounds kind of mean but it was only for a couple days, and better safe than sorry. They obviously got tons of toys and attention while they were in the 'holding stall'.
Also, do your dogs have the bordatella vaccine? That seems to be the big one with strays coming out of the pound...

Perhaps they will let you foster? As was already stated your birthday present.
5 dogs, they will be fine. I just took in my 6th, a doxie that I was feeding for the people next door while they were working in Boston. They told me to find a home for the pit and i did, now the doxie is here with me, all happy, they have not seen this dog for 5 weeks, so it is like he was dumped off also.
So good for you, call them and let them know you are coming down, just in case someone else shows up.
