I went there yesterday, on my way home from the track, but they do not open to view pets or to pick up or adopt until 1:00, so I had to go home.....She is on a stray hold anyway. I am postulating back and forth between getting her and not getting her, honestly. I want to get her, but I do not want to take anything away from Arden or my other dogs. This is my bust season at the farm with my winter clients coming home, I am doing an apprenticeship so that I can get my license in the spring, and I have 4 dogs allready.....I do not want to spread myself too thin.....5 is a lot of dogs!! I just don't know what to do!! I do not like the fact that she is in the pound either......I am over a rock.....HELP!!!

Kanoo, you obviously cannot get this dog off your mind - she was meant for you. So what if you don't have all the time you want for her right this very minute? She is going to have a wonderful place to live and four other dogs to play with - doesn't exactly sound like a miserable life to me.

What if she doesn't play well with my other dogs in a closed environment? What if she doesn't like being in the house? What if she isn't housebroken? What if, what if, what if?? I will die if something happens to my little Arden.....Now this dog has gone to the pound and been exposed to God only knows.....Oye Vei!!!

You say she's a white boxer and isn't deaf? Isn't that kind of rare? I guess, if it were me, I'd go get her. You'd have a rough year, and her coming along, playing graciously at the fence line, and being as rare as you mentioned, is like getting a sign, like a little angel sitting at your doorstep. I'd go get her. There's a reason why she was at your house, so well behaved, and you are the one whom spotted her before she got picked up. She wants to be with you, she's picking you for some reason.

I know times get rough, and you're worried about spreading yourself to thin, but, with 5 dogs, they'll always have each other. They obviously like eachother. She picked them, too. Stayed even when she got told they weren't coming out to play again.

I think she'll be fine.

Have your dogs shown signs of contracting anything? If they haven't, and were playing with her through the fence, I would imagine you would know if she had something. Not to mention, ten days at the pound, if she had something, she's bound to show it before you pick her up.

I would go get her. You two are ment for each other.

Do what you think is best for all, Kanoo. She may get adopted out right away, who knows. Perhaps you can tell them to leave her open for adoption after the quarantine period, but before they hit the point of putting her down to call you first; by then you will have made a logical decision.

I can understand why you would not want to take any chances with any of your current pups, especially darling Miss Arden.

Kanoo, there is enough love. Really there is. And there will be enough time, too. She'll have other dogs to play with, and you'll love on her just like you love on everyone else. There will be enough of everything...

Go get her. She needs you, and you need her. She didn't show up at your fence for no reason...

Best-

Thanks Noni, and everyone, I don't know why I am so torn....I guess it is out of extreme worry for Arden. It hasn't been a year since I lost Spike, and I thought that was gonna kill me. If anything were to happen to my precious rden I would surely die, especially if it were because of something that I did or exposed her to.....

I should have just let the darn dog in the yard when she was there, just didn't know if she belonged to someone or not. Then, I wouldn't have to be going through all of this!!

I hate going to the pound....there are a lot of dogs in there, and I can't save them all. How do I reconcile with myself that she deserves to come home with me but the others do not??

It sounds like your new dog will get plenty of love. Not only from you and your husband but she will then belong to a pack that will love her, too. It will all work out as God intends. Have faith and bring her home.

Wow I have missed a lot haven't I!
She sounds like a wonderful girl and would fit right into your home. Hopefully it all goes well at the pound today and in a few days we both have a new bundle to take home.

I hate going, too. But if you think of it as if you're rescuing at least one, rather than leaving the others, and have the personnel bring you the sweet boxer...it's a bit easier.

All dogs and cats (and animals we've tamed) deserve to have their own human. Each and every one. But that isn't how the world works, unfortunately, so we do what we can, and help those who cross our paths, and know that for the one animal we *can* help it's changed the world for that animal...then we have to be content with the fact we did something, small as it may be, to help.

And I have to say, Kanoo, that I see it as she chose YOU, rather than you choosing her. Kinda like how Malachi came to me...and Simon, and Charlotte, Emily, and Penguin. I chose Esse and Pie, Oliver came through a friend, and Abby was abandoned by some tenants, so I chose them...but 1/2 of my herd chose *me*...

So Kanoo my friend, you've been chosen...let it happen, and enjoy it for what it is, and what it will become...a great relationship between you and this scrawny white boxer who said "you are my human."

And of course we need photos...

Best-
Noni

I guess that is why I feel compelled to do something to try and help her....Simply because our paths crossed.....I don't know what will come of it, but I will go there and see what can be done to get her outta there.

Look at it this way, she is going to come in and be Arden's new best friend . It could happen you know...glass half full, sliver lining, ray of sunshine however you want to say it.
