I'm so excited...and lots of pictures! UPDATED! =P

Many of the older members will remember almost two years ago now, I had a pup watch for Jade, my Australian Shepherd.

Aussie Pup Watch(7 Girls and 1 Boy!)**New Pic P.7*

Although we didn't necessarily want to have winter pups again, we just couldn't resist. She is currently two hours away getting bred to one very special male.

He's at the very bottom of this page: http://www.gravenhoffarms.com/aussieadults.html

This will be Jade's second litter of puppies, and her final. She will be spayed after this litter and at the very least, one puppy will be staying back.

I can't even contain the excitement! I've been in love with this male from the second I saw him posted on their website as a puppy. And in person, he's just as perfect as I imagined. This will be his, I believe, third litter of puppies and his owner kept back my favorite puppy from one of his previous litters and she's just gorgeous!

Jade and Howie have successfully tied one time yesterday and will be trying again soon. She should be due the week of New Years.

I'm about ready to bounce off the walls over here!

And as always, I'd be happy to turn this into a picture-crammed thread at request!

We actually have the little red tri female from Goldun's last litter.
Her name is DA Red Velvet and she is an absolute doll. She did her growing up at the barn and now lives at college with the BO's daughter, she's a city dog and spoiled rotten, but sure likes coming home to the farm on the weekends!

Congrats, Goldun, looking forward to seeing the pups!

Awwww! Thank you!

ETA - I don't think I have a picture, but Jade sleeps EXACTLY like Velvet in that second picture. Ears and all! When she gets home, I'll have to snap a picture for you and Beth.

Sorry, I didn't mean to take over your thread! But, Velvet is very sweet
and is VERY protective of her people. She is a happy little butt-wagging girl!
I'll forward the pics to Beth.

By no means do I think you are taking over the thread!! I've been dying for pictures of Velvet and she's Jade's pup after all and fits right in in this post!

My Abby also an Aussie pulled a fast one on me. So I might be joining you on that puppy watch. This will be her first litter if she took. And with my luck she probably did. Only time will tell. Like you said not sure this is the right time of year. I would have preferred spring. Oh well puppies are still a delight no matter when they come.

Jade gave you some beautiful pups before. I'm sure she won't disappoint you this time around. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the update on the grand event. I'm very happy for you.

scrapchick A family gathering. I have one of Olive's puppies (toy poodle) and she looks nothing like her mother. Can't say that about your girl. If I didn't know better I'd swear that was Jade. Cute pics!

Abby is the blue merle with copper and white, right? Miley is the solid blue merle or with just a little white? Am I thinking right? I haven't seen pictures in soooo long *hint, hint*!! Who's the possible daddy?

I know she won't disappoint. This is going to be an amazing litter! They are both exceptional dogs and the color ought to be fantastic!

Jade and Velvet(still think of her as Jellybean ) are pretty similar, but Velvet has just a bit more white on her face. Her blaze is fuller, but her collar and leg markings are almost spot on with Jade's. They seem to have the same coat, color, and build. It's too bad we didn't live closer, they would probably have a ball together!

Jade was going to be coming home today, but we've decided to let her stay for a few more days with her boyfriend. She's enjoying herself, but jeez, do I miss her. This house has never felt so empty!

tamidoodle same problem here. I don't know why they aren't popular but I have my suspicions after owning three.

Wow Golden you remember my pooches. I'm impressed. Yep Abby is my merle with copper. I no longer have Miley. She now lives 3 hours to the east of me on a dairy farm. I'll be sure to post pics soon.

I wish I could say my Aussie Benny is the dad but no Abby chose my new male Rascal a black tri sheltie I adopted a few months back. He was tied out and she was let loose to run while I did chores. I didn't know she was in heat. Abby had been running loose for over an hour before she decided to get in a quick one. So only time will tell. They to will make beautiful pups. He's mellow and she's high strung. He's harry and she's not and they both have very sweet tempers and are intelligent.

I'm assuming first tie was on day ten? My Minnie was allowed a one time only deal on her 12th day of heat and she's due to have pups in a couple of weeks. I called the owner of the male and told her the good news. She is very excited. This is my Minnie's last litter and then she is going into retirement. I got a call the other day. Someone from word of mouth heard I might have a puppy. So I might have one sold before it's even born.

I see you chose a lovely male. can't wait to see the puppies.

An Aussie x Sheltie cross could work out. I believe when "mini Aussies" first started, it was people crossing Australian Shepherds with Shetland Sheepdogs. I love Abbie! She's gorgeous, just out of curiousity, do you know how she is bred?

Jade is home. She came home last night, after a bath where I work. She's clean and shiny so I'll try to get some new pictures soon before she starts tearing around in the mud! And once I start posting pictures, I'll probably go ahead and turn this into the picture crammed thread that I warned about!

We don't have a ton of Aussie breeders in the state, but our fair share, we just lack GOOD aussie breeders. Most are unregistered and look like mixed breed. Somehow an Aussie x Border Collie still ends up being one or the other. We have a lot of mini breeders. It took me a long time to find good quality working lines around the area. Most are based from where I had Jade bred. They have a few very nice dogs and definitely some of the best working lines available.

I don't mind that Aussies aren't the most popular breed. Labs, Goldens, and Cockers can stay a dime a dozen. I'd rather have to really search for a good breeder than have to sort out a ton of bad ones.

Anyways! Your Abbigail is gorgeous! And I have NOTHING against mixed breeds or other breeds, I'm just saying!

Talking Pictures!!!!

So here is the picture overload! I may add a video soon too. The pictures I didn't take personally, will be linked, but please click them. Aussie adorableness assured!

Here's new pictures of Jade. Please ignore the disgusting background. I was going for lighting and got the stupid junk in the background!

I'll start with Rosie, my favorite from Jade's first litter.

Velvet does not have the same type of coat as Jade. Hers isn't curly or fluffy but very flat.

Jade's coat generally is very flat, but after a bath, she fluffs!
