ahh S**T

My old bob-dog is having problems breathing . She seemed to have a hard time breathing this morning, but when I got home from work, she was fine. Then I went out for dinner with a friend, and when I got home she was gasping for breath, literally. She has to suck in big gulps her air. Then she'll be okay for a five or so minutes, then have a hard time breathing again.
She seems fine otherwise, eyes bright, tail wagging, ect.

I really can't afford to bring her into the vets at night. An emergency call at 11:30 at night will cost be $600 just to get them to come to the clinic. Add another $150 for diagnosis [she can't breath duh] and then $$$ for end product. I think I'm going to have to get her euthanized. She's been having a hard time this fall. She's old, I don't want her to suffocate to death......

So I won't sleep tonight....and sit and listen to my poor bob-dog....And tomorrow morning I'll bring her to the vets.....

Oh thank god. She is alright, for now anyway. She started evening out not long after 1 am. And she's been fine all day. She has a appointment scheduled for monday to get her checked over and see if its something we can avoid.

Glad to hear she is breathing easier. Hope your vet can come up with a plan that will give you more time.

I hope she's going to be okay. Maybe she just had a piece of something cought in her throat or something like that.
My dog once had something that sounds similar and it turned out he had strep throat. I didn't know they could get that. The vet thought he got it from my daughter who'd had it several days before. Apparently there are some things they can catch from us.

My Cappy dog had congestive heart failure and the fluid builds up in the lungs. There is a combo of meds that made him comfortable and he lived a year longer than they said he would! (Having fun the whole way...) It might be something easily manageable. I hope so for both your sakes.

My little pomeranian has epilepsy. She was diagnosed very early and the vet put her on medications. He said that this would shorten her life because the meds would eventually affect her heart and liver.

Well, she does have fluid on her lungs and heart, and started having trouble breathing about 2 years ago. The vet put her on heart medication and lasik to draw the fluid off, and she's been much better. And she's close to 14 now!

So don't give up until you have to, there's lots vets can do now.
