pending Buckskin mare

Breed: unregistered, can be registered with APHA as breeding stock, but we are going to register her with ABRA and IBHA (Buckskin registries)
Age: 6
Gender: mare, never bred
Height: 14 hands
Current job: pasture ornament, keeping up with her ground work...
Future uses: am putting her up for sale, if she doesn't sell will send her for refresher...maybe even put her in some open shows....but she does need to be sold no matter what...
Additional info: 30 days professional training in 2005, not ridden since

I know some of you have seen these pics and video before, but its all I have right now...

How to Critique Horses - read this if you want to comment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

i cant give a critique because I am at work and have a WIDE monitor which really makes everything look wide and long. But she is a red dun I beleive and her butt looks HUGE HUGE on my monitor. (I like big butts). I would market her as a trail/pleasure horse as she is too old for the serious reiners to look at.. Also, if you could get her apha b/s papers you will be able to ask much more for her. Shes cute from waht I can see on my distorted monitor..lol

She just looks from those pictures to be too heavy in the front to slide. Even fitted that will not change. Look at a lot of reiners. They are not that massive in front.

Like I said I like her. She looks nicely balanced her neck and head set in the loping picture make a nice picture that is why I think she would be nice in Horsemanship. She has a nice slow trot although she needs to drive more under herself but that will come as she gets more fit and worked.

I am only saying this as it will help you market her as you said you are looking to sell her.

Very, very nice mare. I really like her head, butt and legs. She has such a pretty feminine face. I agree that she should be fit up and sold as a halter horse.

Overall I think she is a cute mare. I agree registering her would improve her value dramatically. I think her neck is thick although that doesn't bother me to much , she does have a very nice head. She is the perfect size for a child or small adult but I'd like to see more bone and bigger feet.

AGAIN, I am at work. lol.. BUT, I watched the video. I LOVE her head carriage and she seems to be nice and quiet and calm. Not a confo expert, but the way she carries her head tells me her neck is set good into her body (or at least the way I like it) She seems to have good size bone on her leg, again, distorted monitor, so really should look at her at home. LOVE her huge eye! yea, I would probably consider her if I was in the market as I cant see any serious confo flaws, but then again, I am no expert, I just look at the overall picture of the horse and find it hard to find specific flaws.

I am not sure why we can not mentions a disapline as she is asking about her as a reining prospect and since function follow form and she is trying sell her it would help if not only for her but others could see what others see in way of form to funtions in differnt disaplines.

Conformation thread is only for conformation. Its in the rules.. If someone has a horse for sale and they want to know what it might be good at they can post that in the advice for buying and selling.

If the horse isn't for sale there are other places for them kind of questions to get asked.

Specific answers about conformation are allowed to stay. Thats why only some of the peoples comments got sniped.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me.

The OP would like info on the conformation of her horse example -straight legs, toes out, butt high ect are all appropriate replies.

Thanks

1. Beautiful head...and I do mean a doll baby face!

2. She does seem a little butt high...but not by much and it may be the pictures.

3. Beautiful color and overall looks.

I am having a hard time actually getting past how large she is. (Not meaning that in a bad way.)

Not sure if it is that she is tubby...or just a brick house!

And the pictures are kind of hard to get a good look at her.

I have to squint my eyes to see good...and turn my head funny ways.

To me her front legs seem awful short.

But again...I think it is the picture.

She has a nice head and a great rump.
Looks to have good legs under her, a little butt high and looks to be under herself in the front.
Neck looks a tad short for that big ole body.

She is a nice mare and if I may suggest, getting her regular registration papers will make a bigger difference than with the ABRA or the IBHA.
APHA is having shows for the solid paint bred and her color is an added plus.
So, spring for regular registry papers.
If I were looking, and into showing, if she didnt have regular registry papers, I would pass her by.

She should do well in halter and cow work.
