Midnight Rose, Yearling QH Filly, What do you guys think of her?

Name: Midnight Rose
Breed: Quarter Horse
Age: Yearling
Sex: Filly
Future Intended Uses: Trailriding for sure, and i'm unsure as to what else she would be good for. Just wondering what you guys thought of her.
Other Info: Her sire came from a long line of Halter horses, her dam was my best trail mount for years.

Sorry if the pics come out huge, I havent quite figured out how to make them smaller

Thanks!

How to Critique Horses - read this if you want to comment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

What I see is a nice slope to her butt, but her neck seem's to tie into her shoulder pretty high. Head is a little large, but she will grow into it. Nice rich color, I love it! She also seems a little under at the knees if there is such a thing, cant honestly think what it is called. She is a cutie pie

She just looks like a yearling to me...a little awkward, but she is gorgeous. You can tell that once she grows a bit more she'll be stunning. I love that color, it makes me want to go to the Hersheys factory!

Nice head, though not overly feminine; neck attached at the right spot but slightly ewed; straight shoulder angle; flat withers (they may grow); long in the back; decent hind end, though I'd like to see less of a steep croup; pasturns may be a bit long in the front; and she appears sickle hocked behind (which is not a terrible flaw, to some degree).

She should be fine for trail riding.

HTT, Maybe its the eweyness that makes her neck look different to me. And yes, its attached in the right spot.. To her shoulder Sickle hocked, thats why the hind legs looked exactly like my yearling. Couldnt think of how to say it. Wouldnt a slope like that be good for barrel racing or speed event's? Saw that somewhere about the steep croup and power in the hind end.

I wouldn't know, I'm an english rider so I judge conformation from a hunter/jumper point of view.

Nice yearling filly. she seems to have a bit of a long body, which she may grow into. but has a wonderful color and seems to have nice straight legs. I would be just a little concerned with the halter rubbing her face too much.

Overall I think she is a nice yearling and as she grows her conformation will tie together to make her a very nice horse. Her neck ties in correctly to her shoulder and she has nice substance and bone. I think she needs a little muscle in her hip/behind. I think she will only improve w/maturity.
