Basic conformation questions

As I'm looking for my new horse, I know I can't just read about conformation and be able to observe proper conformation immediately...I know it's a skill that I have to learn and it won't just come to me easily. I've seen some of the conformation clinic posts and I can pick out really obvious flaws, but I'm clueless about less obvious flaws. I read some articles, but it's very tricky...the length of this and the length of that needs to equal this, the angle of this and that should be equal to this, etc, etc.

So here's my question:

Could you please post some very, very basic principles of correct conformation for me, such as-

1. The croup and the withers should be the same height

Oh, BTW, what is post-legged??

Thanks so much-
Linda
