5 year old Warmblood Mare

Breed- Warmblood
Age-5 years old
Size- 16.3-17 hands.
Current Job- Uh, in training...sorta.
Future- In training for English pleasure/dressage/maybe some jumping.
Other- Mystory was very slow to mature, so we held off with her training. Now, if we can get her to MOVE she could go to the moon, lol. She has soloid ground training, lounging, VERY respectful of your space. Stands for anything, gone though desenitization with por trainer. Wokring solid under saddle walk trot, free jumping small crossrails. Great about her feet being handled. What should I be asking for her?

How to Critique Horses - read this if you want to comment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

First off that is a very beautiful mare. And Kudo's to you for realizing that she was not mature enough to train her any sooner. I think you gave this mare all the right things..

She has a beautiful head, a great hip and a nice shoulder. She is built to do what ever you want her to do.. The plans you have for her seem to fit her well. Heer neck seenms to be a bit short in portion with the rest of her, but not that bad. A little thick at the throat latch, but again not bad either. Nice clean legs and a nice big butt.

Overall, I think that she is a very nice mare, that you should be able to do just about anything with.

Nice overall look. She looks like the kind of horse I would like to have in my barn. I really like her head.

Her legs look good/solid and in the proper places. The point of her stifle is a little high for a jumping horse though, which won't matter for smaller stuff, but I think she would have trouble behind with bigger jumps. I like her shoulder angle and she looks like she would jump reasonibly "cute" in front.

Her LS dip appears to be ahead of her hip, so her back may be too weak to do high levels of sustained collection. I like her hip angles though, so I imagine she moves nicely.

She looks like a nice lower level all rounder who will hold up well. Hard to put a price on her without knowing her height and rideability though. Based on her only being walk trot, and assuming she is over 15.3 hands, I would think she could be in the $5000.00 or so range.

Hi there!

I agree with everyone so far. Her looks and color are phenominal and she's got a wonderful "look" for the hunter ring! And thank you so much for keeping her out of training until she was grown... I've seen SO many young warmbloods with leg/bone problems because people figured "oh hey, the horse is 16hh, it's time to jump them."

I agree with Karen about her bone structure, but that SHOULDNT stop you or her whatsoever. That being said, she'll probably top out at around 2'6" - 3". I wouldn't push her farther than that. What this means is, she'd make a GREAT low-level hunter for a child or adult amatuer, especailly if her attitude is mellow and her movement is good.

BUT I would hesitate to put her in jumpers; she looks a little 'thick' to make tight turns quickly and she's just too hunter-type to keep out of the beauty contests.

If I were you, I'd market her as a potential child's hunter to a trainer, regardless of her size, and ask around $4-6k depending on her bloodlines. Again, her size will effect your price; if she's under 15.3, you wont be able to get as much $$ for her. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's true.

If you intend to sell her as a pleasure mount, your asking price should reflect that ($3k tops - she's still green and whoever takes her will have to finish her).

Hope this helps, and good luck!!
Eden

She sure is a CUTIE! I would buy her in a second if I was still doing English.

I like her hip and bone structure, and beautiful feminine face. She kind of looks like a bay Friesian. She also has a sweet and loving face.
