Dezirae- 2yr old ApHC filly

Hi all! I just wanted to see what you guys think about my Appaloosa filly. So far she is growing up just how I want her. The more I'm around her, the more she grows on me!

Name: Totally LA
Breed: Appaloosa
Age: 2 years
Height: 15h (expected to reach at least 15.3)
Pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/totally+la

Goals: Right now because she is so growthy, I have not done much with her other than the basics. She walks/jogs on a lead, squares up, lunges, ties, clips, bathes, wears a saddle/bridle etc etc. I plan on breaking her to ride at the earliest late winter but most likely will wait until next spring.

My real goal with her is to become competitive in the ApHC circuit. I want to do everything with her! I want to show halter, showmanship, hunter in hand, western pleasure, trail, hunter under saddle, hunter over fences... basically whatever class she can get into! I would like to earn at least a ROM in both Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle. If we reach that, then I will begin looking for her first boyfriend.

If I could get a video of this girl you guys would be head over heels with her movement. She is a very flat kneed mover and really gets that hind end up under herself while maintaining a low, pleasure like head set. Very nice!

Here are her pictures (sorry they aren't the greatest!):

How to Critique Horses - read this if you want to comment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

Ok... First I will say what a beautiful girl.

She has a beautiful girly girl head, and ties into the neck well at the throat latch. She has a nice hip, but seems to be a little lighter in the shoulder. She looks to be a little butt high right now, but she is probably in a growth spurt. She looks to have very clean legs and really all and all she should e able to do anything you ask of her. She is a very nice girl.

I don't like the way her neck is shaped and attactched. She has a decent shoulder, nice back, but I don't like her hind end- in the first picture she looks awfully goose rumped. As she grows, it might improve the appearance; it's hard to judge horses in the middle of their growth stages. There is something about her legs that strikes me as "off", but I can't really put my finger on it...

Anyway, she's a sweet looking girl.

She hasn't really been doing much of anything so a definite lack of muscle tone is there! Been more or less a pasture puff. She is so growthy right now too. I string tested her to 15.3 but the way she goes what if she goes over? Her brother is 16.2!

I really hope that we can get competitive. Both my trainer and I feel she has Nationals/Worlds capabilities as far as being under saddle goes. So that is always encouraging!

Thanks for your comment on her!

I like her

I like her head and neck, her shoulder is nice, has a good depth in her heartgirth, she is a little long and a butt high, I wish her croup was longer as well, she is also a little sickle hocked.

how is she bred? she looks like a decent mare, EVEN if she is just a pasture puff

To give a honest and fair critique, I would like to see front shots, rear shot and another square shot in a bit better lighting. Something in a barn isle with indirect sunlight and no shade.
