5 year old Quarter Horse Mare - Cadillac Fletwood

Breed: American Quarter Horse
Age: 5
Gender: Mare
Height: 15.1
Horse's current job and future intended uses: Pleasure riding, trail riding, reining , lesson horse ( for me )and driving. There maybe a little english and jumping in her future aswell.
Additional Information: I plan to finish out her reining , trail riding, and driving training. Everything else is just a little dabbling for fun. I would be interested to hear what other's think she would be suitable for aswell. Okay critique away.

How to Critique Horses - read this if you want to comment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

She has a pretty good look to her. Her hip is slightly higher than her withers. Her neck looks pretty good, except I think it's a tad thin. She has a nice slope in her shoulders.

If you drop a line from point of buttock down the legs it doesn't touch the back of her legs and hocks as it "ought" to and she looks a teency bit butt high, but other than that she is a very very pretty and balanced girl.

I bet she'd look great English and she's probably be fun for jumping if she likes it. And considering that she already rides and drives I bet she likes trying different things and keeping her brain active. Sometimes, what matters most is whats between the ears!

I Like her eye appeal. She is very pleasing to look at. Soft I guess I woudl say. I think she looks well balance. A bit under in the back legs. Could that explain her high hip? She is well put together from what I can tell. I am not the best judge . But I really like her...

First off, she is a beautiful mare with a beautiful femanine head. Nice kind eye, great color. She has a very pretty neck and it ties in pretty good. She has a nice butt and pretty clean legs from the butt shot and the front shot.

She seems to be a little long backed, and he back legs seem a little far out, but very little. He hip seems a tad light in comparison to the shoulder, but really not that bad at all.

Overall she is a very pretty mare with nice build and look to her. You should be able to do what you have planned for her.

I like her head it's very pretty, nice straight legs, and good size feet. She looks a tad long backed. I would like to see a bigger hip and a cleaner throat latch. Your pics are a little far away so it's hard to see her hip and shoulder angles, maybe you could get better ones??

I like her. That's all I can say. I really can't find anything about her I don't like.

Is this a good enough picture for a look at her shoulder. Don't mind the sweat. We had just finished a 16 km ride. The pic is from yesterday.

I LOVE her color. I agree with everyone else so far, she looks a little bit butt high, but other then that she looks solid. She also looks really sweet and kind.

I would love to have another horse like that. I had a mare that has similar coloring but more prominent dapples...that is one of my favorite colors, smokey buckskin.

And this friend didn't make it again this year . Too bad, I wanted to meet Tippy too!

Back on topic - haley, weren't you going to take another picture of Cally in the barn, or somewhere she'd be on perfectly level ground?

My horse wouldn't drink out of the river... He didn't like how it tasted.

My hubby(who doesn't now how to ride) baled when his horse tried to roll down by the river It was pretty funny.

This is the only photo I have of me, I forgot my camera so it's from my phone...We were going up hill so I look a lttle out of position

Yeah some nice in the barn level pics would be great for conformation.

Okay ,
Well I will try to get some barn pics up. The only unfortunate part with barn's is the lighting leaves a little to be desired.

Have someone holding her at the end of the barn (the far end), and try taking the picture from outside, while she stands inside, and the opposite way around to see if it will take a better picture
