Dulce Elegante - 8yo Kiger Mustang x Peruvian Paso Mare

This is Dulce Elegante, 8 year old Kiger Mustang Peruvian Paso cross. She is DNA'd 100% Spanish blood. She was bred for Endurance racing, but is an all-around mare. I have jumped, done barrels, reining, and dressage with her - she is also a part-time lesson horse. She was bred to a black Andalusian stallion and produced a gorgeous palomino filly for me. I'll put a pic of baby too, shes now 7 months old. The filly ate her tail

The one thing I would change about her is her back end. Her butt wasn't as "pointy" before she had her filly, but we chose an Andalusian stud with a very nice hind end. (Look at the extension on her filly! Woo!) Here he is:

I think Dulce has a 'wow' factor in person - she really is something. If I could clone her, I'd do it in an instant - Condessa, her filly, is the next best thing

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only

She has that "Look at me!!" factor. That's for sure. It's hard to tell conformation with those pics, but she seems to be very well put together. She has the cutest face! That filly is awesome and a very pretty daddy, too!!

The mare will gait when pulled in, and the filly has the traditional "paddle" of the Andalusian but does not gait that I see.

Here is me riding Dulce, she hates the saddle I was riding in and it was retired to my Quarter Horse mare

In the video about 1:25 she breaks into a pace, but I have used her to trot regularly.

Good Points: Sweet expression and nice legs and feet.

Bad Points: neck attached too low and a bit ewed; a long, roached back; a dip right before the croup (read conformation books by Dr. Deb Bennett to really understand how this affects them); very weak hind end with a very short croup- goose rump. Idealy her shoulder could be a bit more sloped but it's not bad.
