8 year old TWH

I have never asked for a confo critique....was always afraid to.

This is my 8 year old TWH, Dubya in Command out of big lick horse, I'm in command. Figure he made it out west because he was not show material. He's kind of cow hocked but I love him. He's 16 hh and not too petite or to huge. These are the only pics I have as of now.

Me on him

He's got a wide barrel but pretty narrow chest...do ya think?

How to Critique Horses - read this if you want to comment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

I am not an conformation expert but my bf loves walking horses and he thinks his chest is a tad narrow and he's bellowed a little from lack of riding maybe and his feeding program. We both like his overall looks, he looks kind and sweet and like he would be an reliable and steady ride. He looks like a great horse and we would both be proud to have him in our barn.

I really like his looks. His overall build is very nice. I think is he was ridden regularly he would build up in his chest area. I really like him though. Is he really smooth??

he has a bit of a plain boring head and he doesn't have a very appealing neck and it appears to be a little short and fat but that could just be bad camera angles, he is very narrow chested, and doesn't have much of a hip and is cow hocked, but i do like his back seems to be a fairly decent length and he has a ok shoulder. he needs some muscling up. he definatly not show material would do find in ur local fairs and for trail riding.

I'm not good with conformation, but I think he's really cute, Nothing jaw-dropping but he looks pretty well-put together, and I also ahve to say I happen to love his name- do you call him Dubya? I'd have to if he were mine.... lol....

Thanks for everyones opinion.

Yeah, I need to ride a lot more to get him in shape. This week was the last week of school so I will be concentrating on him.

He may not be "all that" but boy does his temperment make up for all his flaws. He's a steady eddy, in your pocket horse.

Amy...I actually call him Dubie for short.
