Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

She has a nice head, seems to be a short stocky type. Her legs aren't totally straight, but fine for what your looking to use her for. Her neck is a tad thick but not by much. Very nice mane on her and tail & forelock. She also has a nice round rump. Altogether she seems to be a nice horse. And she'll be gorgeous shed out Will she not stand still and behave? Time for training

thanks guys..and you're right highhorse its time for training..she wasnt even properly halter broke when we got her this winter and for a 6 year old to have been totally unhandled and untrained she was totally pushy and out of control ..so comparatively shes doing pretty well and she's learned a lot! actually if you see how bare her pasture is and how green and the grass in the yard is you can see why she was more interested in that lush green grass than she was in having her picture taken... but all in all shes riding great and taking to training very nicely

I like her. She has a kind eye. Yes her neck is a little thick, but it ties in nice.
She has kinda short legs, but they look good and sturdy. Overall I think she pretty well balanced. Good luck with her.

I gotta say, I really like her over all look. Love those legs! Really nice bone and muscle. Third picture makes her look great. Pretty color too with the long flaxen mane.

Over all I really like her, she looks kind and honest. She has a nice shoulder angle, thick neck, ties in a little low, but nothing bad. Great bone, overall good balance. I like her low-set hock, she ought to be able to get up underself, drive from behind and stop well.

To be picky, she toes out slightly in the front, and I like to see her toes shorter and her angles cleaned up a bit. She has slightly ahort, upright pasterns, and may not be a smooth as she could be, but not bad, and sometimes that doesn't hold true.

I'll bet with getting fit up and a good trim, she'll be stunning.

I'm no expert, I think she looks nicely balanced and athletic though, and a gorgeous mane/tail... plus a very cute face.

Anyone else think she looks like a Haflinger cross?

I had a little Haflinger mare and these two could have been twins as far as conformation. Only difference would have been coloring.

With her build, she looks like a Haflinger/QH cross. Very CUTE!

Bad things: straight shoulder, very short croup, in one picture she looks long in the back- in the other she doesn't so I don't know about that, and a thick throat latch.

Good things: as everyone has said, she has very nice legs and a pretty face!
