Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

What a cutie! I really like this pony. I'd love to have one like her for my kids down the road.

I like how she's put together. My only complaints are her shoulder. It's decent, but could be a bit better. Also, her right hind fetlock looks enlarged. Does she have an old scar or other issues there?

Also, her neck is cresty, but that goes with her butterball apperance. Have you thought about putting her on a low starch diet? It might help with her weight issue, LOL! She's a fatty, but a cutie.

Other than that, I think she's a cute girl. Her conformation looks very clean to me. Her back is a tad long, but I like that ...

I'll bet she'd be a doll pulling a cart!

She has pretty mullen withers. I would also love to see a little deeper heartgirth. Her neck ties into her shoulder a little too low. However, I like her tailset and her hind end, the slope over her croup looks nice. I wish I could see her standing square, but her legs look straight and her hocks are nice and low. I think the angle in her pasterns are bit off, but it's hard to tell from the pictures.

All together she is pretty dern cute for a pony! She has such a soft eye I bet she is a nice ride!

She's adorable! The main problems she has are a long back and straight-ish kind of meaty shoulders.

Camp Draughting is kind of as follows. (dont know if you even have it over there)
you have a pen with say 10 or so cows. you cut out one cow. hold it away from the herd, similar to cutting but not "hands down".
you then get scored on technique, cow control, eye appeal similar to cutting.
then you call for the gate to be opened (where the cow is cut from the herd)
you enter into kind of a course, go through a gate, around a couple of pegs... this one is time scored.

I have not tried campdraughting, but it is much cheaper than cutting (kind of the poor man's cutting)

did that make any sence?

found a clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6-Yi...eature=related

please note, this is not a good example of a "quality campdraughter" quite poor actually.
this is big around my area and the horses are usually ex cutters or of a equal training level.
