Is he a cross with a draft breed....his neck seems awfully large in comparison to his head and body....might be a tad bit overweight. I appreciate his overall muscle tone and love his big hip......his feet might be a bit small for his massive body type.

What a cutie. I love his "stretch" pose!

I have to second the other poster, he looks a bit on the fat side. Cresty neck and his butt is ROUND.

He's pretty flat withered, so saddle fitting for trail might be a problem. Just hacking around is no problem though.

Horse's angles (shoulder and hind) match up well, both are quite open...this horse is probably a pretty good athlete.

Nice bone to his legs, good and straight. Looks like he toes in a bit in front, and out a bit in the back...not uncommon if he's a draft cross. At his next trim though, care should be taken to even out his back feet...he looks like he's putting more weight on the outsides.

I love his head, totally adorable, and his neck is nice...big powerful chest too. I'd love to see him a bit fitter, I bet he's a real beauty.

Legs are a bit on the short side, but not extreme.

I agree with Perrys Mama. But I love the look of this guy, IS he crossed with a draft or just that massive??
From the looks of the withers mark, saddle fitting has been an issue with him. His neck is a bit short and really thick, thats what I like the least about him. But if some of his weight came off I dont think his neck would be as bad looking. Plus the mane flopping over makes it alittle hard to see how thick it is toward the throatlatch.
He's my kinda chunk of a QH .. you could ship him to PA anytime!

This horse needs to be put on a diet or may run into difficulties with laminitis. The fat pockets on either side of his dock need to disappear and he will probably have to lose a good 75 lbs. to do so. Best bet is to use a weight tape to monitor his weight.

This horse was a rescue. He was foundered for over two years and the owners did nothing about it. That's why he is so big. He had 24-7 turnout and no way to excersize it off. We cured his founder, though with LOTS of money and LOTS of time. Thanks for the responses and no, he's not a cross he's a pure bred QH.

I like his build, when you whip him into shape he's going to be gorgeous! I'm not that knowledgable, it's hard to tell what his neck is going to look like when he loses the weight. Right now it is just too thick for a QH. And, his head is a little coarse. You weren't looking for a halter champion, were you?

I think from his build he would be quick if he wants to be.

Starting from the front:

A rather large, but attractive head, he may be a bit coarse in the throatlatch. His neck is either bull or just very fat (I think the latter ). He has nicely sloped shoulders, is short coupled and has a very well shaped rump. With conditioning, he should be an amazing athelete (possibly a jumper?)!

By any chance was he a stud? Studs can get those cresty necks.

He might have been a stud for a few years but he was gelded when I got him at the age of six.

I may have him checked for Cushings if you haven't already, just to be on the safe side, but neck aside.... what a build!

I like his head, has a nice, sensible look about him. I don't know about ever jump him w/his history of founder, but that aside I bet he makes a trail horse extrodinare!
