Conformation Clinic #3 ~ Egyptian Arabian Filly

Hello, One and All! I'm standing in for LeAnne at the moment. Here's your next Conformation Clinic Candidate:

Breed: Straight Egyptian Arabian

Sex: Filly

Age: 19 months at time of photo

Height: 14 hands at time of photo

Intended use: Endurance, eventing, trail, broodmare

Personality: Polite; loves humans but does not intrude into your space.
Quiet when alone with humans. Middle of the hierarchy when in a herd.

Please make sure that you have read and agree with the Conformation Clinic Guidelines before you post your critique! Thanks, and have fun!

Everything I see that is "wrong" I realize is ok for an Arabian. At least as far as I know. For example, flat through the croup is normal for an Arab. Short back, also normal. Short canon bones...fine for an Arab! The only thing I see that's "off" would be that her ears are a little long? I like her, she's a pretty girl!

And anyone feel free to correct me on one of my assumptions. I only have 1 arab and I haven't studied their conformation like I have TB's and QH's.

She has all the characteristics of an Arab.
She is still young, and I see the potential of a beautifull
Arab form there.
She has that nice long slinder, arched neck,
tiny dished face.
Just love her color.
She is going to be a beauty.

Note, please forgive ant typus, eye surgery today and
things are still fuzzy,

I'm not a big Arab fan, but I think this filly is gorgous! I really like the large white spot on her butt....very unique and her colour is pretty too!

Looks good!! She's typey and beautiful. Awesome neck and head. Would love to see an 'in action' photo of her. She's so flashy and has the most expressive eye! Is her color considered a rose grey?

She has a beautiful head, and a lovely, refined build---very sleek and feminine. Her legs look good, no complaints there. She looks a mite ewe-necked in the first picture but not at all so in the second, so I think it's just something about the picture, not the horse.

My only criticism would be that she seems a little steep in the shoulder for my taste.

Agree word for word, Nancy! I love the look I anticipate she will have in another couple of years.

When she is mature, WOW she is going to be very gorgeous! In the first photo I thought the same thing about her neck, but in the second she looks absolutely wonderful! Shoulder is a little too straight, but not horribly so.

Considering I dont know much about Arabians, never had a real 'taste' for them, Id say she is A-Ok.

Purdy girl.

Okay, I really don't know much about conformation, but I'll add my 2 cents worth. I think this filly is down right gorgeous. She has a beautiful head and I love the cute little ears. Her color is very unique and pretty. Her back seems nice and straight (as most Arabs backs are). I can't find anything wrong with her. Beautiful horse.

Very nice looking filly. I think she has an excellent head and her basic conformation appears very good. She does appear a little "soft" - I look for a little more definition in an Arab when breeding for endurance, but that could just be the picture.

I like her a lot.

Not that it has anything to do with conformation, but I suspect from how intensely she focuses that she is extremely intelligent. From her herd position you can guess her nature probably won't be overly aggressive, which, when combined with her intelligence, should make her an attentive and apt student.

OK...from the top:

Her ears are a little long. She has a very kind expressive intelligent eye. She definatly looks like an Egyptian Bred Arab!! Her neck does look a little ewe-ish but not in the second photo. Her neck also ties in a little low. Her shoulder is very steep and too small (weak) compared to the rest of her body. Hr legs are the right length ratios but she looks like she's a little over at the knee...won't hurt her movement at all though. Her back is nice and her flat croup is perfectly normal and desired in Arabians. She is a little weak in her hip but probably just due to age. Her hip angle looks good and her hind legs are also nicely proportioned and well set under her. Her joints look clean and flat. She's got a nice clean throatlatch as well. Overall beautiful mare...would probably excel at anything you want her to do!!!!

While I too do not know much about Arabs, I think she's lovely, she has a very kind eye.
They change so much though as they grow, I wouldnt be able to say what she will be good at!
But she sure is purdy!

At first glance she seems perfect, but as I look closer, now this could be just the picture but her front leg seems set back under the knee! Could be just the way she is standing, very elegant neck sits well, her proportions seem balanced for her bred. Tail is placed nice and high. She has a really nice look to her face typical of the arabs but she has appeal. The slope of her shoulder to me could have more angle to it. Her top line seems a bit off but that could be due to her age still growing. Otherwsie a very nice filly.

I think she has a great build. Beautiful long legs, nice long sleak neck. She has cannon bones. Just an all around sleak build. She is just so beautiful.

I am not a fan of arabians, just a little to flashy for me....no offense to the owner of this horse! She is a beautifl color, but I find her a bit thin...I know with that breed they arent really meant to be muscular and thick, Im just used to appys and quarters lol . She is quite short in the back. Nice long legs though a very beautiful small head.
