I think he's a good looking boy... I'm not good with conformation, but I like his straight legs, big hooves, and looks like he has solid bone structure. I love the last pic of him cantering. And I'm jealous of that arena!

I like the sturdy build on this gelding. The late gelding didn't seem to mess with his neck. It's rather fine for a late gelded horse. Some of the picture angles make him look long backed but I think it's an optical illusion. I like his roman nosed head, even though it is uaually a fault. I like his big feet too, I like to see feet that match the size of a horse.
Very handsome gelding.

What a cutie! The drafties will always have a special place in my heart

Starting at the hind end, that is one heck of a tail! He has a short croup typical of the drafts, and a nice sloping hip. In some pictures he seems to toe out a bit in the hind legs but it's hard to be sure. The angles of his pasterns also seem a bit too sloped in some photos, but it's hard to tell from the photos. Good solid feet, not too small for his size but not so big that they're a nuisance.

He has a nice well proportioned barrel. His back does look a bit long, but not excessive. He also looks very slightly roach backed to me. He has relatively flat withers for his age, another typical draft trait. I like his nice sloping shoulders, and he has good strong front legs. He appears to be slightly pigeon chested, but again it's not a glaring fault. He has a nice refined neck, though a little on the long side (but carries it very nicely at the canter!). His face is just adorable, I find the slight roman nose very endearing

I can't wait to see him with some more training behind him - He'll make a very nice dressage mount I'm sure.

Doesn't look like a typical dressage horse, his hind end seems weak and the lines don't match up well.

He is a cute horse tho, I love greys.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am late responding as I have been without internet for some time (grumble grumble)

Yes I do see a long-ish back, and he does toe out in the back, and no he sure isn't a high end dressage horse however I would like to see what we can manage to do.

Going to look up pigeon chested..love to learn new things.

He is still pretty under muscled, I have only had him since June, and by the time the weather got cool enough, if started moonsooning

oh, and that arena is where I work

I like him. All horses have non serious conformation faults. He might even make a good jumper. I'm not seeing a roman nose, just a straight one as often seen on tb's and draft horses.

I love your gelding's grey coloring? Is he crossed with Percheron? His trot sequences look like VERY draft horse movement. I like how he has a good, sturdy build and nice straight legs and big hooves (comes from the draft). His back doesn't look to be TOO long, just maybe moderately. Good luck with your dressage.

What an interestingly put together horse. He looks very draft from the withers forward and not so much in the back end. I think he looks like he has a long neck and high withers in some pictures, but then in other pictures he looks more proportional. He looks weaker in the back end than the front, but not necessarily weak. Therefore, the front end looks heavier. I don't know dressage conformation so I can't say if that's a good or bad trait. He looks the best in the last two pictures.
