He was four months old in this pic^^^

The Rest of the pics he was a year. And that is not me in the picl, Its a woman I volunteer for

How to Critique Horses - read this if you want to comment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules about how to critique horses in the conformation clinic. Please check back here as this forum progresses since we will be making updates as we go along.

1. Be honest but friendly.
All horses have flaws -- you can certainly point them out. BUT, do not say things in a way that could be construed as rude or overly negative.
Keep all comments focused on the horse. Do not say anything critical about the owner.

2. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Just like how all horses have flaws, they all have good points. If you have something negative to say, be sure to also include a positive comment.
Keep things friendly -- give your comments the way you would if a good friend asked you for your opinion.

3. If you don't have anything conformation-related to say, please PM the horse's owner instead of replying in here.
People posting in this area are looking for conformation-related responses. Even if you're not well versed in conformation, please don't be shy about trying to critique the horse or ask questions about his/her conformation. But, since this is the conformation clinic, please make sure your response does pertain to conformation! Comments such as "he sure is pretty!" should be made via PM if you aren't also commenting on the horse's conformation.

4. People WILL say things you disagree with.
Keep your comments focused on your own ideas, and not reactions to other people's posts.
If you think you'll be bothered by seeing comments that you think are "wrong" - then don't visit this forum!!!
It is not your job to convince everyone that your opinion is correct. Say what you believe and let others come to their own conclusions.

If people have trouble following these rules, we will make critiquing by invitation only.

I'm posting because nobody else has and I don't want you to feel ignored. He's really cute and looks like a typical Standardbred to me.
I can't comment on his conformation because he's just a baby. I'm not great at conformation in adult horses and I know very little about young ones like him.

Not really the best Confo shots, and he is still young, so hard to say what'll stay with him and what he'll out grow.

I do see that it looks like he has a nice sloping shoulder though, so he'll be a smooth ride

He's a cutie, I STB's!

I also like his nice sloping shoulder how his neck ties in to the shoulder. And I think from what I can tell his legs seem to be pretty straight and strong. I also think for his age he has a nicely muscled rump. I think in one picture his head almost looks a little big for his neck (which he would probably grow out of) but in the last picture his head doesn't look too big so the previous was just probably the picture. I think he also seems to have a nice shiney healthy coat. Cute colt!

It's a little hard to comment since he's so young but he is a beauty! He looks like a nice standardbred to me!

Better pics for critque.I know little about standarbreds but He is pretty cute. I like his shoulder, neck both shape& length & how he ties into his chest. He is a tad thick in troat latch.Nice short coupled body & decent butt on him for his breed. His head is common but better than some, I haven't met a many standarbreds with fancy heads. He has a kind eye & expression that gives him his attractiveness.sicklehocked & appears behind in the knee neither that bad I would worry much about.Overall I think he is a nice & looks well cared for.Good luck with him. What are your plans for him??

Hey thanks, Well All i want it critique as a horse, so your worked very well thank you . Your right most STBS dont have the greatest heads, but his isnt roman or giant so its okay Thank you. Do you think his Sickle hocks will bug him or his knees? He will be a riding horse, he was bred to race but i am not racing him. I'm to too sure what type of riding he will be good at, but I ride western so not too sure. As of now, just for riding when he is ready.

I think overall he looks like a nice horse, very balanced, I like his topline a lot. His face is very expressive and sweet, and he is in phenomenal codition- his coat just glows. I really don't know anything about standardbreds to be honest- I know they are trotting horses, right? Or are they pacers? Do they canter naturally, or does it need to be taught?

The one thing I did notice, maybe someone else can help- the back pasterns, they looks steep to me... does anyone else see that?
