How cute. The last thing I read lastnight was your previous post. So as I was sleeping last night I dreamt about your cats

Momma cat still looks scared and on alert but she seems to be taking good care of her babies. And the kittens are soooo cute -- I'd love to have the orange one.

It's not like it's impossible to do

I think Frankie is a tad bit better about the whole situation. She let's me take the babies even though I am ever so slightly touching her with my fingers while getting one out. She isn't hissing or growling.

This morning I put some treats infront of her nose (which she always ignores while I'm in the room) and this time actually started licking the treat. It's a step in the right direction.

I have had numerous feral cats over the years (they all moved in with me ) but ususally i got them tamed while they were outside. It's different when a litter of kittens is involved and having to cage the momma.

Update

The babies are all doing well and I was hopeful for Frankie but not anymore. In the last 3 days she developed into a devil and tries to attack/defend her cage even if I just want to put food in it.

I guess once the babies are weaned we will get her fixed and then let her go. I really had hope for Frankie and was going to keep her but she is getting much worse now.

I guess there is only so much I can do and not every animal apprciates help.

I am sorry Dusty...maybe to much contact with the babies, she may be getting jeolous or possessive? While I understand the need to try and temper the babies, once they are weaned they are more easily dealt with...I would try and give her and the little ones some space.

In a way I'm still hoping. I know I would go crazy having 4 kittens crawl all over me , but in reality I don't think it will work. I'll keep you guys posted.

Is it possible she's in heat? I can get pretty cranky during "that time"!!

I have seen this happen with cats that have been in a cage for awhile. They get very territorial. Is there a room that you could let her have the run of. Some place the kittens can't get hurt in?

Right about this age, mama kitty would be going off by herself and leaving the babies by them self for a good part of the day. Not far off, but enough to give her a break.

If you have a laundry room, or a small room of some kind, that would be great.

Sorry this is happening. But I do believe she is just going stir crazy. I know that is just an expression, but it does happen. I have seen it happen to cats in shelters who have been there to long.

The room she is in is too large to just let her go. I would never be able to catch her. It's possible that she is going "stir crazy" or that she is in heat. The minute the babies eat on their own I will take her in and get her fixed. It's always something ...

Ain't that the truth. Nothing is ever easy when you are dealing with animals.
