Help me help Mickey

Mickey is my favorite cat. I saved his life at birth!
A year or so ago, he came home with what looked like a hot spot. Got some treatment from the vet, didn't help. The spot got really bad, so I put some ointment on it from Melaluca ( sp ). Mickey obviousy didn't like this, he went crazy and took off before I could catch him. I didn't see him again for almost an entire year, I thought I had killed him
He did cme back, the spot healed and new hair had grown.
Now he has a hole where his ear attaches to his head. It looks bad. I was wondering if T tree oil would help?

Edited to add: Sorry if this post was confusing. . . I just got a bit upset.
I have spoke to my vet and am NOT using Tee Tree oil for Mickey!

Do you have pics of the bald spots? It sounds like ringworm to me (common in outdoor kitties).

The spot is almost gone now, he seems fine. I will monitor it though. I don't think its ringworm, but how else would I know?
He is wormed regularly.

I agree, we had an outside kitty with ringworm that sounded exactly like that. It is kind of easy to treat, but there are a few vet visits involved.

There's a great article with some good pictures on ringworm. Ringworm is actually a fungus, not an actual worm. The name is deceiving!

Horsey-Gal - ringworm is not actually a worm. It is a fungus and yes, you can catch it from your kitty. There is a cream you smear on the bald spots twice a day that is supposed to help kill the fungus (can't remember the name of it right now but it's available for cheap at walmart in the pharmacy section). It can also be transferred to any upholstered products, plastics, etc via your kitty's nails to try and keep him contained (we crated ours for a period of two weeks).

As far as identifying it: Ringworm typically appears on the rim of a cat's ears, around the toes, and in patches on the tail. (That's just my experience from a year at a Humane Society).

If you yourself get ringworm you can use the same cream you use on the kitty (get your own tube though!) or any treatment for athlete's foot and/or jock itch (I believe they're all the same thing but have different names).

Thanks, those pics doesn't look like what he has. We don't have any signs of it nor do our other cats.
His spot is on his head, where the ear attaches, there was a cut/small hole there. I have been cleaning it multiple times per day. If it gets worse, spreads etc. . . into the vet we will go.
Funny, I always thought ringworm was an actual worm
