Introducing my new avatar

This is Apollo, he is about 10 years old. I got him 3 years ago from a neighbor. He was a very sick boy, he has Haemobartonellosis (feline infectious anemia).
It is chonic, but we keep it under control.
I was far more concerned with his health, so when the neighbor said he was a girl, I just went with it. I named "her" Faith, for the faith that "she" would get well. After "she" was better I set up the appt. to get "her" spayed. That is when we discovered that "she" is a neutered male!!
That works out very well. Apollo is a very handsome boy in a rugged way. I call him my Clint Eastwood boy, definitely NOT the Tom Cruise type. That was a true relief, because as a boy, he can be handsome; as a girl... well, not so much!!!
He is a real love!!!

That's wonderful that somehow they can lead normal decent lives with that terrible disease! My vet where I work has one at home (solid white male) and he's getting that age too....but when their immunity lowers, it's hard for them to recoup and they go downhill from there. But at least he could live instead of being put down immediately...the only risk is if you have other cats around that he could fight with....

Now if it was Leukemia or FIP, he would already have been gone...

Good luck to him and you for a long future together!
