The kitten with the tail straight up is adorable!

She has this wild look to her. Her eyes go every which way. Frankie doesn't hiss or growl. When I get too close she just tries to hide behind something in her cage and tries to get there in a low crawl. She did let me touch the tip of her nose a few days ago but that was it. I believe she is no older than maybe 6 months herself. Poor thing.

Frankie is a very quiet cat. I went and bought a new extra soft cat bed yesterday evening and when I got home she was already in the middle of her babies , I guess I was too slow. At least she gets to enjoy a new bed later in the week, I don't want to put it in there with the babies and all.

I'm working hard to convince hubby to keep at least one kitten and Frankie. There is no way he will let me keep all 4. My neighbor already said she would take one. My mom is coming for a visit in 3 weeks (from Germany) and she most likely has to put her 18 year old cat to sleep before coming here. Maybe she will take one.
Which would mean I'd have one more left ... maybe we keep 2 babies I'm a sucker.

To clean her blakie use a lent roller. It is quiet and will not frighten her nearly as much as removing the whole blanket.

They are so cute, good for you taking her in and giving her a warm place to have her kitttens and spaying her.

How sweet Best of luck getting Frankie to come around. I've seen many Farrel cats turn into loving pets, hopefully that gives you some encouragement

What a beauty - and those babies are adorable.. Try putting some soft cat food on your fingers for her to lick - she will start to associate your scent with good things.. it may help her get friendlier..

I too took in a feral mama, she had the babies in the barn and after she had them I just walked up and eased in and petted her. After 2 weeks I couldn't stand it and I took them all in the house. That was Easter. They are all with me and so is Mama. They are ALL spayed and neutered now. I tried to let mama go back outside, but she stays at the door screaming to come back in. I even took all 4 kittens to the Petsmart adoption. Came back with all 4. So many kitties for people to choose from. Keep telling hubby I am going back to Petsmart but I am not. Frankie looks like such a sweet kitty. In no time she will trust you. I was amazed at how the mama of mine took to me after being feral all her life. God bless you and your new little family. My kittens are bigger than their momma and she STILL LETS THEM NURSE. She is a saint. Now we have ANOTHER stray/feral cat in barn with 3 kitties. I feed them all, but am forcing myself to ignore them. They all will be caught and fixed as soon as possible.

Those kittens are so cute! Frankie is pretty also. Good luck on taming her and talking hubby into keeping 2 babies.

Glad all are well. They sure are CUTE!

Good to hear how others have tamed ferals.....I have several of my own, and would love to have them become tame, so that is encouraging.

Keep the orange kitten.........personalities of the orange ones are always terriffic!

Of course, keeping more than one would double the fun!! Enjoy and congrats

Well, just a short update:

The kittens are doing great. They should open their eyes any day now. Frankie decided yesterday to hiss at me for the first time. But I also approached her with my hand to pet her. Which i had approached her twice before with food on my finger, she will not even look or smell the food on my finger, not even tuna.
I'm not sure she will come around.
Of course I am not giving up yet. I'm assuming I will keep momma and babies together till about 12 weeks and if Frankie doesn't get better by then, I may have to do a spay and then release her.
My mom will come for a visit in 3 weeks and move into the "nursery". She is great with cats and maybe she can convince Frankie to be a good kitty .

I'll take more pics soon.

Feral cats can take time! The best luck I've had wth taming has always been after the spay/neuter is done. Your Frankie is not only feeling the need to defend herself, but her babies as well. You are in a tough position! Just relax and take your time, you will be fine!

I have been touching the babies here and there but keep it short and sweet and put them close to mom when I return them. You would think that she realizes by now that I'm not doing any harm to anyone....

It takes a while with feral kitties. I had one (a boy) for two years before he let me touch him without hissing and carrying on. Now, anyone can touch him, he purrs (that was a big deal) and follows people around the house for a scratch. It takes a while with consistant love but they do come around.

I have no doubt that Frankie "knows" you are safe. It's just hard to get past the instinct to run. It's just like when one of us takes a fall from a horse; we "know" that it probably won't happen again, we "know" we'll be fine; but it can take a long time to actually feel safe. She's been afraid her whole life, feeling safe will come. Can you imagine never, ever feeling safe or secure? I think that's a big reason feral cats sometimes become so very loving. Safe has got to feel awesome!!

I have to say this was very well put and a different spin put on it. Thanks for typing this out! Today I took one of the kittend from right under Frankie's face and she was fine with it. They are starting to open their eyes.

Just give her time. If she was really afraid of you she would not have let you take the baby. We can only imagine what she has been through in her short life. Right now she is preoccupied with taking care of the babies. When they are weaned she will be better equiped to respond to you.
