My poor kitty!

Our kitty, Mousie, had something wrong with his eye about 6 months ago. I took him to the vet and he said the only way to get a diagnosis was to scrape his eye (under sedation) and send it to the lab. The results came back and the vet explained to me that it was some sort of kitty lupus and it's affecting his eye. So now all I can do is put steroid drops in it. Well, it isn't really doing anything. His eye is still cloudy. It looks like a really bad cataract! It runs and gets boogery. Would I be a bad momma if I had the vet remove his eye and sew it shut? I can't see continuing the drops (only treatment) if they don't even work!

Talk to the vet for his recommendation. Find out what is best for the kitty. You're not a bad kitty mommy! A bad kitty mommy would have ignored it, or not be bothered with the drops.

No I wouldn't think your were a bad owner. You've gotta do whats best for him and if the drops aren't working and he's just getting worse then having the eye removed might be the best thing for him

I'm calling the vet tomorrow to see what he thinks. I want to get a copy of the lab report anyway. Maybe I can find more information about his condition online.

Nope, I think your concerns are that of a good kitty owner. You have to do what is best for them. Hugs, and healing thoughts for your fuzzy one.

I totally agree with everyone else. You are a wonderful kitty mommy for trying so hard. I'll bet the vet work wasn't cheap!!
If the eye has to go, so be it. It would take some getting used to, but you would both be fine!
Who knows, maybe you could make a little eyepatch and call him Pirate!
