I found a kitten in the road *video added*

tonight on the way home from work. This is a busy road too. Thank goodness that there were no cars coming at the moment. The kitten was laying the middle of the other lane. I slammed on my brakes when I saw it and swerved into the other lane to block it from oncoming cars (I know not smart) but I did not want another car to come along while I was trying to get the kitten and hit it. When the kitten saw my car swerve it ran accross the road (again thank goodness no cars coming) and I moved my car blocking the other lane. I jumped out of my car and the kitten ran to me when I called for it. Somebody either dumped or lost it. I brought it home with me and went and put out "found kitten" signs. The kitten is only about 5-6 weeks old. Ofcourse I had to go to the store to get food/kitten milk etc. I called my dh to warn him about finding the kitten so he would not get surprised when he got home. We already have 2 cats, 3 dogs, 3 horses, fish, ducks, geese, 8 goats what is 1 more mouth to feed if nobody calls right??

I did what you did, to save a turtle. So I can't say anything bad about doing it for a kitten. Thanks for stopping to help the little boy. Alot of people would not have, or would have done worse. I doubt anyone will claim him. Are you going to keep him, or find him a home?

I am sure we will keep him if nobody claims him. My husband is big toughy on the outside, but a sucker on the inside. The kitty is in my bathroom now and my husband went in and looked at him when he came home from work and came out of the bedroom and told me sister that he already knew kitty was not going anywhere

I vote for Freeway-he is so cute. If you don't want him I will need a few days and directions to your house via Houston

His eyes are still pretty blue, so he is under 6 weeks. Don't let him around your other guys!

Another possibiliy: he may have crawled up to under the hood of some vehicle, freaked when it started, and leaped out when it slowed down, narrowly missing death. Have had both death and injuries in farm country from kittens doing that.

I did not think of that possibility, that could be. But I did look around the area for any more kittens when I picked him up. When I got home my sister insisted that we go check again and we asked some people that were out in a close by neighborhood if they were missing a kitten.

Freeway is a cute name!! I will tell my kids.

Beware of naming a kitten Freeway. I did and now I have the worlds biggest freak of a cat. We now call him Freakers instead cause he's just wierd. More dog than cat because my Jasper dog raised him. My parents found our Freeway on an exit ramp out in the middle of nowhere. Eyes barely open, not enough teeth to be on any kind of solid food. No other kittens or signs of cats anywhere around. Either his mother dumped him cause he was goofy or someone dumped him there.
