I went to work today and took one of my cats named Clyde......with the thought of my sweet tabby cat who is almost 8 years old that may not come back home with me.....sure enough, I was right.
Clyde had lost half of his body weight (down to 6.2# and normal was 12#)over a period of a month but acted fine, ate and drank good, and seemed extra happy to see me. He used to be one of my housecats until 4 years ago....we allowed him to explore the outdoors and he loved it.....all my kitties outside have a cat building with kerosene heat and Science Diet food.....so he had a good 8 years with us....had him since he was 6-7 weeks old....and his sister, Bonnie.....
Doc checked his BUN and it was off the charts...of course there's no hope bringing him out of that one.....along with kidney failure, bad breath-specific to the kidney failure process he had a painful, gray colored swelling/ulcer inside of his mouth/right jaw...which was another result/symptom of kidney failure that came up this past week....so I called my husband and told him that I was going to have him put down.....he was also sad because Clyde was the sweetest, cutest cat ever! He never started fights or fought with anyone....
He will be severely missed and I cried after I told him bye and that I loved him...he just gave me that cocked head, big eyed look then looked up at the other vet tech like he was saying, "don't you want to help her rethink this issue of euthanization?
It was so sad, I am usually the one that holds cats to be put down....but I couldn't do my own.....
So, here's my loveable, cuddly Clyde!
