Bi-Lingual Kitties

Found this while doing some ready and found it interesting.

So, how true is it for you and your feline companions?

TOTALLY. My kitties definitely try to have conversations with me, and I love it. I bought two bengals partly because they were supposed to be vocal. I love a pet that wants to talk to me as much as I do with them!

Absolutely true. If I get home on time from work, which I normally stroll through the door like clockwork, Hobbes is sleeping somewhere. But if I stop off somewhere and am more than 15 minutes late, he is at the door, almost yelling at me, like "where have you been?", a multitude of meows, and as long as I meow back to him, he will answer me. Like a long series of scolding and me begging forgiveness. Interesting article, Seer.

I have conversations all the time with me herd. And Boogs, me Siamese, and I actually know what each other is sayin. He has many different "words", and I've learned what they are, and we "talk" about what he wants, or where he wants to jump up...and will if I tell him yes, but won't if I tell him no.

I have no doubt this happens to lots of people...

Best-
Noni

They have different meows to everything.People think im crazy cause i say i can talk to my cats and understand them but i do..I dont treat my animals as animals, i talk to them as they are humans.

Most popular meow in my house. Can't miss it. I swear they have a hollow leg.

Not only do I know what my cat is saying but I can also tell you what my dogs are barking at.

Oh, definitely! Mellow doesn't talk as much as Shadow did, but he let's me know what he wants. Facial expressions can be very obvious too.

Would one of you Bengal owners please post a pic. I would love to see what one looks like. I've always wanted a Maine Coon cat, but impossible to find around here.

Bengals are awesome cats! They love to play, are super affectionate and definitely have purr-sonalities! I highly recommend although if you want a Maine coon they may not be for you. They are fairly small (mine are 11 lbs right now, will probably get to around 14 when full grown) and have very sleek coats.

Here are pics of my two boys, both are silver, one is spotted the other is marbled.

We talk to our cats too....and they also have taught us their sign language. We have so many cats in the house and outside that it's hilarious sometimes.

Each one is different and they can all get the point across that the food bowl is getting low (not empty). The bowl sets in the kitchen floor beside the water dish. We have 2 cats in particular that will trip us by weaving in and out of your legs meowing rapidly when we walk toward the food bowl area. Some of the others will follow us through the house murmuring, others will watch our every move until we get close to the feeding area and then leap upon the counter and look down at the bowl and back up at us.

They all know where the food is kept and they are all hovered around us trying to get in the closet and we can't make it to the food bowl for all of them in our way...meowing, murmuring and it's funny how they want to get to where they can make eye contact with us so that they can understand more of what we are saying to them.

WARNING: Do not run out of cat food....if you do, you will not be allowed to sleep>cats will jump on your face, crawl across you back and forth so that you can't get to sleep. I dread every time I have to take the food up due to surgery scheduled on one of them the next day, sleep deprivation occurs that night for sure.

Lu and i will have conversations back and forth. She meows at me and I repeat the sound, in the same tone. Then she'll meow again. Lather rinse repeat.
