My "vegan" cat

I have eight indoor/outdoor cats. Because they have a cat door that lets them go in and out whenever they want, we often have the icky problem of them bringing whatever they've killed (or, worse, not yet killed!) into the house to play with.

Over the years, they've brought in mice, voles, birds, even rabbits. Lately, if they can't find anything else to play with, they've started "catching" big lumps of stray sheep wool and bringing those in.

Then there's Echo. She brings in seed pods from the Magnolia tree. And the other day she came trotting proudly in, carrying a large green maple leaf and a twig!

Funny cats! When I was a teenager, we had a cat who loved raw squash. All fall, the dog would steal squash from the garden and the cat would sit in the lawn and eat it.

Well, it could be worse... She could be a junk food junkie like my cat was; she very much enjoyed the marinara sauce from ravioli...

My 2 cats are strictly indoors after a fox killed both my indoor/outdoor cats last yr, so no grisly presents from them unless they catch a mouse inside. They do , however, "kill" the play toy that has a long flexible wand with feathers on the end...about 2 feet long. The funny part is when they try to use the kitty door that goes between the closed porch and kitchen...they just can't figure WHY it is so hard to get this thing entirely thru the door!

Well, you know they are doing that because they think you can't feed yourself, right? They are providing for you, so maybe the one cat sees you eat a lot of salad and is trying to bring you one! Make sure to tell them what good kitties they are for bringing you dinner!

I thought you were going to say a snake.

My cat brought me a big juicy night crawler.

My last cat used to bring cicadas and june bugs in. He'd also bring in all sorts of little animals and birdies. Our most recent kitty is very pretty, but not very smart, thus she stays inside. It would be a matter of minutes before she did something dumb to meet her demise. So she brings milk carton rings to us as gifts.

I had a cat that would steal aspargus from you if you looked away long enough. She didn't like the stalks just the tops of them. She was an inside cat and weighed about 20 lbs, most of it muscle. She would eat an occasional bird if she could get outside but she didn't leave anything but the feathers so we got no 'presents' from her.
