Poor stray kitty

Went to the recycling center this weekend only to see a very scrawny stray cat living under the porch of our township hall. It was absolutely frigid here this weekend and the poor thing has no food and minimal shelter.

Naturally it is wild as the dickens and I can't coax it to me. Can't live trap it in this weather because it would be frozen to death by the time I got back to pick it up. So, my son and I made a house out of a cardboard box and a nice thick towel, and we are leaving it food and water each day.

Makes me feel like , but what else can I do?

You're doing all you can. Maybe by the time this cold weather is done with, you can go back and live trap it. But, for now, you're doing what I would do in your situation.

Such a kind heart you are. You did more than most. Most other people wouldn't have even noticed him. I hope he fares well with your assistance.

Orchid, you can't save them all.

You did what any of the rest of us would do -- your very best. Believe me, if it's as wild as you say, my gues is that it will survive better than you think. The wild ones always do.

Bless you and your good heart.

Maybe it will come around eventually if it figures out Orchid = food. Or, maybe a coyote will eat it first.

Ours occassionaly become coyote food too - but coyotes also have to eat and they would rather have fat little fur balls then skinny ones.. (Just kidding...)... He (or she) will probably end of following you home by the end of the week

Who says a trap can't be a house. Who knows maybe you'll catch a pretty black cat with a white stripe down it's back.

Seriously if you set a trap with tuna in oil and sit and wait in your car for say 15 minutes you'll probably have him. If not remove the food and take the trap with you and try again another day.

You have already done more for him than anyone else. That speaks volumes! I'm proud of ya!

HOw sweet of you Orchid, to take the kitty food and water. I am sure he/she appreciated it! I bet the kitty is not gone for good. Maybe after awhile it will let you catch it. KNowing you feed and water it and all.

You have to be careful of dealing with wild kittys an strays due not only to the nasty bites cats can inflict but also the chance of rabies these days. Leaving food and water is all that you can do sometimes .

You showed him human kindness. My guess is someone else also has a big heart and thanks to your efforts they were able to catch it.

I always say look at the positive not the negative. If you don't see him again have happy thoughts. He's found a good home. Smile you did all you could. You've taught your son a valuable lesson. How to be kind to those less fortunate.

If you find the kitty again you should call a no- kill animal shelter and ask to pick the kitten up or you should drop it off at one because they can get a vet to give it a check up and the kitten will get a shelter and food and eventualy find a loving home =]
Its prob. the best you could do for the kitty.

And a one-year older kitty! Wonder whatever happened to it? Or Orchid's towel?!

Kitty apparently left and took the towel with him/her, version. Seriously, kitty ate for a few days and then *poof* kitty and the towel were gone.

Lovemycheyanna, you apparently live somewhere bigger than I do - there are no shelters around here that will attempt to come out and pick up feral cats.
