Uhoh ... should've spayed sooner!

Well my sister's cat (see pic below) has a very firm, bulging tummy and her nipples are 3 or 4 times they're normal size. She isn't spayed and is about 10 months old. She can go in & out the doggy door and has free reign outside since she can slip easily through the fence.

Mom kept putting off having her spayed and sure enough: now (I think) she's pregnant.

My question is this: does anyone know how to "time" a birth based on how the mother looks? I can take some pics of the nipples if you need 'em.

I have offered to take one of the kittens if it comes to that. Mom keeps hoping the cat is just wormy (yeah right) and is still playing "wait-and-see" with getting her spayed. She makes me so mad that she left it this long.

Anyways, here's a pic of the momma-to-be. Any tips would be awesome!

It's hard to say but judging on her age and the description you gave I'd say she's half way there maybe a little more. Keep feeling for movement. When you can feel the kittens wiggling then you know she's close. Is this a recent pic or an older one?

That's an older pic. Will get an updated one this weekend.

Our grandmother lost her cat a few years back and I'm hoping she'll want a kitten now that's she's gotten over the loss of the last one.

Lol - don't guess any HTpians need a kitten?

I'm going to MAKE mom spay the little hussy as soon as this is done. I'm assuming sp ay her at 6 weeks after the birth when the kittens go to new homes.

Haha, oh, if I were closer.. you bet I'd take one of your little ones. I'm a sucker for kittens.

FL is too far though.
