I'm such a pushover!

My equine vet doesn't play fair. I stopped by the office to pay my bill, and there was a sign on the door for "free kittens, inquire at desk", and it had a picture of 2 adorable little kittens (so not fair, how can anyone pass up those sweet little faces). So I go in, pay my bill, and tell them that it's not fair to put up a sign like that, because it's sooooo hard to resist! So my vet says, "Want to see them?" Of course!! (Again, so not fair! She knows how much I love cats, and how my husband and I spoil ours rotten, so she knew that if the sign didn't get me, seeing them in person probably would!) She let me in and in front of me I see 12 adorable little kittens running around and playing. As if that wasn't tempting enough, she picks one up and hands it to me saying, "want to hold one?" Duh! Long story short, I came home with not one, but 2 new little kittens!! (My husband is no help either, because he told me I could have 4!! ) I've got to be the biggest pushover for a cute, furry little face!!

Here are our new girls, Smudge and Beanie:

Beanie is the one looking at the camera in this picture. My husband named her Beanie because he said the little gray spot on top of her head makes her look like she's wearing a little beanie.

Smudge is facing the camera in this picture. I named her Smudge because the black spot on top of her head makes her look like she's got a smudge of grease on her head.

They are both such tiny little things, and both sweet and friendy as can be. Now I just hope the rest of our cats will accept them into the group quickly, and not hurt them.

Uh, oh, Two pushovers in one family. You are in trouble

They are adorable. My vet tried that one on me, but hubby had just finished cleaning out the garage, where our three don't seem to be able to make it to the litter box or outside.... (In their defense, they were not litter trained as kittens...) Any way, the vet puts this adorable little one on my shoulder, where it proceeded to snuggle in. But hubby was very clear on the "no more cats" statement, so I could use him as the "bad guy". But your "bad guy" is not holding up his end of the bargain!!

Thanks everyone! I just couldn't help myself, and no, my husband is no help in that department. If he'd been there without me, he probably would have brought home all 12!

RenosGirl, Beanie does have a little different look to her that I can't quite put my finger on, but she's such a little sweetheart, she just follows me around everywhere, she purrs up a storm, and we think she's adorable in her own way. She was actually the runt and she had a special place in our vet's heart, so our vet specifically asked us if we would please take her as our 2nd kitten because she knew that she would be loved and have a good home with us.

It could be the way the picture was taken but beanie's nose almost looks a little pushed up almost pig-like, I think it's also all the pink around her eyes and nose. She looks tired from a big day of finding new home. cute!

You think your vet's tricky! Mine puts any kittens to be given away in a kennel cage out in the waiting area. Try not looking!!!

Sundancer Maiden, your vet is really not playing fair putting the little cuties in the waiting room!

Snwflk, I'm the one that held out and said no to 4 (although it was not easy ). Right now I'm glad I held out, though. It's tough enough trying to ease 2 new kittens into our barn cat family. I'd lose my mind trying to keep track of 4!

I love having little kittens around too. They seem to be making themselves right at home in the barn now, although the rest of the cats are still not willing to be anywhere near them.

Little Beanie gave us a bit of a scare last night. We went into the barn and couldn't find Beanie anywhere (they both usually come running to us as soon as we walk in). We called and called, and we could hear her crying, but couldn't figure out where the cries were coming from. Finally my husband spotted her...in Zena's stall next to Zena's front hoof (Zena's hoof is as big as Beanie is ). Before I could get into the stall to get her out she tried to climb Zena's leg. I was sure Zena was going to stomp her when she did that, but Zena just picked up her hoof, moved it away from Beanie, and gently set it down. I was so proud of her!! So far today both of the kittens are staying out of the horses' stalls (of course the horses are both outside right now), but hopefully neither of them will do that again anytime soon.
