I'm such a softie!

I looked outside earlier this week and saw this white kitty in my garbage. Sigh.

Being the softie I am, I put a small dish of food outside (thinking it would keep it out of the garbage)

It has kept kitty out of the trash--kitty showed up again this morning, looking for more food. Of course, being the softie I am, i gave it to it.

both my cats are fixed and utd on shots, as well as being exclusively indoor cats. but I've always known not to feed strays--so when one shows up on my doorstep, i feed it.

sigh. lol

I can't bring Stray Cat inside---not yet anyway.

StrayCat is very wary--not "wild" just uncertain about me. So I can't get close enough to even pet it/him/her. I'll be able to in a few days, I'm sure--but we have to make friends first.

And I don't know if Stray Cat has fleas--and I do NOT want fleas in my house. I got them in my apartment once--and I traced it to either when I took Sadie to the vet or from the yard where people let their other cats outside.

Stray Cat's meows sound like someone actually saying "Meow"

Stray Cat let me pet him/her this morning! I have to move very slowly, but it will let me pet it. Not taking a chance on picking it up to check to see if its a him or a her.

If our in-laws ask--we don't know nothin bout no stray cat. LOL They already think we have too many and weren't thrilled when we got Gracie. So i KNOW they'd be irritated with us taking on Stray Cat.

Stray Cat decided to be friendly and came up to me outside. All reports are definite--Stray Cat is MALE!

So--do I continue to call him Stray Cat or give him a name like "Tom"

My sister had a cat that took up at her house and she calls him Black Kitty. So I think we are calling ours "White Kitty."

If he sticks around, we might move him to the barn and start feeding him there and let him be our barn cat.

Maverick was out and White Kitty was laying down in the fence row. Maverick sniffed around and White Kitty just looked at him. Maverick, being used to cats, didn't pay him any attention.

And even though he laid down under the car yesterday, when I went to the grocery store today and the car started, he took off for the fence row, even though he was in the yard, nowhere near the cars. So he doesn't like engines which is VERY good.

White Kitty has turned out to be a super friendly cat, once he figured out that we weren't going to hurt him. He runs up to me and lays on the ground--"swims" across the yard, climbs up in my lap if I sit on the steps...

I checked him over for fleas again--none, and no eggs either--so I'll keep an eye on that. If he gets any, I can swing by the vet and pick up some flea treatment. I don't know if what I saw the other day was trash or what--but with him being white, I'm sure if he gets fleas, I'll see them.

We dno't know if he's lost, if he has a home and has just learned that the two people with the fuzzy dog creature will feed him just for showing up, or if someone just got tired of having him around. Any way-he's a sweet kitty and can be the outside kitty for as long as he wants to.

I'll try to get the camera and get some pics of him--especially his striking eyes. He's kinda cute--a very round face.

Good, I was going to ask where the pictures are! He sounds like a cutie!!
It might be a good idea to put up posters and make some calls. If he is a stray it would be best to have a vet visit, get him checked out and vaccinated. Would not want him to pass something on to your other kitties!

Our white cat had fleas once.... You couldn't see them though which was odd. I would borrow a flea comb to check for flea dirt etc just to make sure. And if he is going to be outside and stay yours, neuter (if he's not already!) FVRCP and Feleuk boosters! Can't wait to see pics!

I think he's going to be a "comes and goes" cat. I saw him today around four and neither hubby nor I have seen him since. I'll probably see him in the morning--he sems to know he'll get fed around 7:30.

It was odd--I picked him up, and instead of acting like my cats and immediately wanting to be put down, he started purring and laid his head on my shoulder and rubbed me with his head--like he just couldn't get enough.

I could just see it--take him to the vet, get him neutered, and he goes home to his real family who are like "Kitty! What happened to your boy parts?!?!?!"
