Update w/pics Found baby kitties...so sad

I found baby kitties in the barn today. I had heard the racket in the loft for a while (who knows how the momma got up there or where she came from) but apparently they are starting to become mobile and fell out of the loft. The first one found is very vocal and seems healthy enough. The second one I found at lunch time when I checked on the first one is not going to make it. I thought it was dead and started to scoop it up with the shovel and it moved. It was laying with it's poor little mouth open and it looked all dehydrated so I thought it was already gone. When I realized it was still living, I dribbled some water into it's mouth. It doesn't appear able to move and suspect it will be deceased before I get home.
The loft is so full of hay that I can't even stand up there. The only way to find out if there are more will be to throw hay down to make room to stand and manuever. I pray the momma will come back and at least rescue the healthy looking one. I just hope she's not there when I go looking. She growls visciously when she knows we are around.
I don't care that she's there. I just want her to take her kitties and move out of my barn.

Well, the little one was still alive when I got home tonight. We have tried to feed them but they are just too small too figure it out. I went into the loft to see if there were more up there and found one. It looked as though it may have been stillborn. I had to dispose of it while my daughter was doing her best to try to feed the little one. We put them in a box with hay, a towel, and a stuffed animal to cuddle up with. I pray the momma comes back for them tonight as it's supposed to get down to 40 degrees. The box is in the barn but it will still be chilly for the two little ones.

I didn't bring any home. They are still in the barn in case the momma comes back for them. I hope she will. We have tried feeding them with a dropper and with a small bottle but we aren't getting much into them. One has it's eyes open (barely) and the other hasn't opened up much yet. The littlest one is starting to move around more though so that is hopeful. I was afraid he would have internal injuries from falling from the loft. He didn't look too good when I first found him.
I just keep praying that the momma will come back for these little ones.

That is sad. Probably a young cat got pregnant does not really have a home or know what to do. I wish she could be caught and spayed. I hope all goes well for the little ones but it does not sound promising.

Are you using KMR for the kittens? The dropper is a great way to go, don't give up! Are there any signs of momma having been with them?
How are they this morning?

I haven't seen any signs of the momma. I just went down to check on them. They are still alive and I managed to get a couple drops of food into them. I even saw the little one swallow it this time. Maybe there is a slight hope for them. I'll just keep doing what I can and praying for help from above in whatever form he thinks is appropriate.
My Hubbie will have a fit if he finds them but it's not like I initiated this. I don't plan to keep them. If they make it I will find them a home somewhere. That will be difficult since my daughter has already named them even though I told her that they can't stay. I can't let them die without doing all I can though. That would be going against who I am.

Bless you for helping them and I hope they make it and you find them a good home - they deserve it if they win the struggle to survive.

more kitties...

Well, sadly the two I originally found on the floor that had fallen from the loft didn't survive. We tried feeding them but they were too small to save. I think they may have suffered internal injuries. I also found a deceased one in the loft.
Well, on Friday night we heard more meowing but couldn't find anything. On Saturday I heard it loud and clear from the loft and went up to investigate. After moving many bales of hay this is what I found crawling around, meowing at me.

Sorry this pic is blurry. The kitty wouldn't hold still for a pic.

They are almost duplicates to the two that didn't make it but they seem healthy, loud, and wide eyed. That must mean momma has been taking care of these 2. I hope they make it through. It was very sad when we lost the first ones. They are so easy to get attached to.

Well, these last 2 are still surviving but I thought they felt thin this morning. The white/yellow one is crawling out of the box and wandering around the barn. Hopefully the momma will pull these ones through.

You will have to keep an eye on them, if something happens to momma then they will end up starving to death. You could put some wet food mixed with the KMR out for them and maybe they will eat on that. At least that would supplement them in case momma isn't coming around so much. Good luck with them.

They look pretty cute and healthy, if the mama does come back she may just decide to take them somewhere else or take them back up into the loft. I think if they are able to drink milk I'd keep them away from mama so that they have a chance to live and be around people and not be feral. That way you might be able to find them a good home.

Unfortunately they are unable to drink milk or eat food as of yet. We aren't able to even get them to take milk (KMR) from a dropper so it is futile. I checked on them this morning and they have gone drastically down hill. I suspect they may not make it through today. Darn momma cat anyway!
