I've got a question regarding a lump on Megan

Okay, Megan has this lump between her ears, she is quarter horse but back in her pedigree she has had some Throughbreed.

Now yesterday my coach was getting her bridle on and just noticed this lump she came to me all concerned, but I had already knew it was there.

Someone told me that Throughbreed's have this and it might be because of this reason, her having Throughbreed in her pedigree... now my coach felt it was bigger then normal, she showed me one of the other lesson horses who was a Throughbreed the lump is there but not as pronounced.

Now, she is not affected in any way, this lump is just part of her hardly noticeable unless you are feeling her there. She is the horse in the avartar!

Anyways, these lumps in throughbreeds they can be different sizes correct, she is only 3 years old and still has some growing to do.

The trainer didn't point it out to me as I am sure he would have noticed and brought it to my attention if it was serious.

I am thinking its a gentic marker of her past brought thorugh her lineage...

Or could the size be more pronounced because she did have some nutrient defincancy when I bought her... ???

Is she a grey?
If so it could be Melanoma which is really common in grey's

Does it feel hard, like it's just a part of her skull or is it soft or moveable?

Yeah, that's what I was wondering too! Can you post a couple pictures of it?

I don't have pictures, but its hard not movable... sorry yes it feels like its part of the skull... same spot a Throughbreed would have their lump between the ears... Megan's just seems larger then most...

What is melanoma lump

Melanoma is a form of skin cancer just like in humans. Greys are prone to it. It sounds like your horse just has a lumpy skull. If it really bothers you have the vet look at it the next time he is out.
